To whom it may concern,

The commitment of the Kadiant team to providing compassionate care and mental health services to our
community has encouraged me to apply for the Behavior Technician opening. As a recent graduate from
El Capitan High School who’s interested in pursuing a career in community health and psychology, I’m
excited to have a chance to nurture my professional interests through impactful experiences such as
Kadiant.

Diverse extracurriculars have allowed me to develop skills such as leadership, service, and empathy.
Throughout high school, I’ve been a part of the ASB Leadership program. I’ve served in roles such as
class president, ASB Secretary, and ASB Director of Philanthropy. These duties have given me firsthand
knowledge of how to communicate effectively in collaborative settings while taking the initiative to lead
others. My involvement in my high school Leo Club has also taught me the importance of leading through
service. Leo Club is a community service club that gives students the opportunity to gain volunteer
experience and interact with the community through events like cooking for the homeless, helping out at
city events, and counting election ballots. In my four years of membership, Leo Club has allowed me to
form important connections and grow my passion for service. While Leo Club gave me opportunities for
volunteer work through the school, I also sought my own initiatives. I began volunteering for CalYouth
Crisis Line in my Junior year. As a Crisis Counselor, I directly interact with people seeking support. My
work allows me to connect them with resources, offer words of encouragement, or simply hear about the
obstacles they face. Outside of volunteering, I’ve also participated in research opportunities and college
courses to further my knowledge of psychology and develop my professional interests. The UCSC
Science Internship Program (SIP) was an eight-week academic program that immersed me in
psychological research. I researched the moral psychology of high school students and academic integrity
alongside four other SIP interns while learning more about research in real-world settings.

From service to academics, I’m continuously seeking ways to gain experience and deepen my
understanding of psychology. I’m deeply interested in learning more about this opportunity to join the
Kadiant team to provide our community care. Thank you for taking the time to consider my application. If
any questions or further information are needed, I can be reached through my phone number or email
address listed above. Thank you again, and I hope to be in contact soon.

Best regards,
Jessica Ma
