5.1.1. Wash flat sample or no more than four products in washing machine using the
program below:
• One normal Cycle – adjust the machine set up to “Regular Fabrics” such that a normal
wash, rinse & spin cycle will run for approximately 25 min to completion. ( WHQ
washing machine: set to division 12 on Regular fabrics to allow one cycle to run to
completion).
• Cool setting – water temperature of approximately 27°C ± 3 °C.
• Wash load – set machine to "small load" or “low level”. For flat samples or product
uppers, do not fill machine more than 33% full. For whole products, do not wash more
than 4 products (2 pairs) per wash cycle.
• Add 1.5 grams of Purex Detergent per liter of water in the wash cycle (1.5g/L). For
WHQ, this corresponds to 50 grams (1/2 cup) detergent.
5.1.2 Remove after each washing cycle and examine for different changes in the look of
the sample by comparing to control sample.
