2 General for Insulation

2.1 Description
This insulation procedure specification is prepared by Beerenberg and provides requirements and material
build-up applicable to the Ivar Aasen Field Development Project - pdQ. All insulation to be executed in
accordance with documents referred to herein.

IPS describes the factors and conditions that are decisive for choice of materials, thicknesses, system
build up and products.

Furthermore, it includes installation descriptions of the current insulation work to be done, in form of
drawings (sketches) and its detailed information.

In addition, there are also necessary and important documentation in that respect - such as test reports,
verification reports and similar. These reports will be included in the final certification records (Ref. DN02-
FA0033-L-RD-0001, Latest revision)

This procedure describes technical insulation solutions and quality control based on the requirements
settled in the governing documents.

All insulation work for Company on Ivar Aasen Field Development Project - pdQ to be carried out as
described in this IPS.

Products and materials that is part of the insulation systems are HES-evaluated in accordance to
Company criteria (see NORSOK standard R-004 Edition 3).

SMOE project managers and governing personnel must make them familiar with and implement guidelines
for insulation performance described in this IPS. The governing personnel include project managers,
supervisors, QC personnel and equivalent.

All personnel involved shall meet the personnel qualifications in NORSOK standard R-004 Edition 3.

It is required to document that all installation personnel are sufficiently familiar with the following governing
documentation; NORSOK standard R-004 Edition 3, Specification for Insulation (DN02-SM-M-SP-0006,
Latest revision) and Insulation Procedure Specification (DN02-FA0033-L-FD-0002, Latest revision).

All drawings are for illustration purposes only. Orientation of the boxes should not be read as a
requirement.

2.2 Governing documents

The governing documentation in this IPS has the following hierarchy:

NORSOK standard R-004, Piping and equipment insulation, Edition 3, August 2006

TR1660 App A – Insulation Handbook, Draft B Ver. 4, valid from 2013-10-01

3 General insulation information

Insulation systems shall meet the requirements in NORSOK standard R-004, Edition 3, August 2006
and Insulation Specification DN02-SM-SP-0006.

Equipment installed on piping systems where insulation is required and that requires regular
maintenance, replacement, inspection etc., such as probes for corrosion monitoring, are to be insulated
with removable insulation.

If not otherwise specified, all temperatures refer to normal operation temperature. General reference is
given to Norm. Opr temp. For PP and PFP applications involving Chartek system Max temperature
shall be used.

3.1 HSE
Approved HSE product data sheets shall be available for all materials. All materials shall comply with
applicable health and safety regulations both in the country where the insulation is applied and the country
where the product is to be used.

All products shall be approved by Company.

MSDS are provided in DN02-FA0033-S-DS-0001.

3.2 Installation of insulation

Installation shall be covered by NORSOK R-004, Edition 3.
