MEMBERS REPORT
It feels like it was a short month with so much going on within the Club. The AGM meeting
required extra effort from all concerned to ensure a smooth transition into the new year with an
influx of new members which we hope will continue. A special thank you to Terry and Eddie for
standing in for me and Terry for your contribution prior to and on the day did not go unnoticed.
Finally it was good to see both Tom and Diann Ford inducted to the Club. We all look forward to
your contribution with the inaugural presentation of the Blue Butterfly Book Club. Well done!! I have
also received membership applications from both Cathy Ryan, Rene Dash and Harold Morris who
to
will be welcomed and inducted at the May meeting. There are also an additional three new
potential members who maybe be inducted as well.
Our current membership stands at a healthy eighty-one and with those new members coming on
board it will not be long before we will have to look at our numbers. We do need to balance our
genders so we have equal female and male. Our maximum quota is one hundred members as
gazetted. Overall the growth has been very steady in making the Club now a well balanced unit
while other clubs are struggling. This shows we must be doing something right.

We were pleased to see a couple of new faces at our meeting last month.
Population or perish, the foundation of economic growth was up front and
centre in heavy discussion. If I’d brought my ukulele we could have sung “if I
was a rich man, yaba dibba dibba dibba dum. I’d build big, tall house(s) with
rooms by the dozen right in the middle of the town” as the song goes. Or maybe
Rosehill Racecourse, although I’d prefer Randwick now that we’ve built out Parramatta CBD.
This moth we meet as usual at Bella Vista farm estate at 10.00 am on Wednesday 17th April. BYO
comfy chair.

SNOOKER REPORT
With only two visits to the tables this month things have again been rather
quiet. The first saw Ralph and I enjoy two challenging games against one
another with the spoils evenly shared. The second day was calcelled because
I was on holidays and others were on the Life of Riley tour.
This upcoming month we have three dates for us to play and it would be good
to see some new members turn up. Without some more players our snooker
activity may fold as it cannot survive with only a couple turning up on a regular
basis.

GOLF REPORT
Our golfing group play 9 holes of golf each Monday at Windsor golf club. The
starting time can change according to the seasons and daylight savings.
It is quite a pleasant couple of hours where you can walk or share a cart with
another player. After the game you can enjoy a drink and a chat in the clubhouse
with the group.
We would welcome any new interested players. If you would like to join us then please contact me
and I will provide you with the details.

WALKING GROUP
Our first walk for the year was a success. We all had a wonderful morning
walk at Bernie Mullane. Unfortunately the cafe was closed for an upgrade
but that didn’t dampen any enthusiasm. Great company and a wonderful
morning.
Looking forward to the next walk at Parramatta Lake on the 3rd April. Everyone is welcome,
Evelyn Hearne
BAREFOOT BOWLS
Once again we had a beautiful afternoon in this Autumn weather on the bowling
green. We played on the synthetic green which gives for a fast game of bowls. It
takes a little time to get used to but eventually I thiink it is easier to throw the
bowl.
We had a couple of triples games in which the players showed some skill, with
much competition between teams and players.
These games make for a very friendly and competitive game into a social
event.
All members are very welcome (no experience or bowls is necessary) so if you are thinking about
it come along and try it out.
We will play again at the Baulkham Hills Bowling Club at 2.30 pm, on the Thursday the week after
our Probus Club meeting, The cost is just $15 for the afternoon: bowls supplied and coaching
given (if required).
Our next bowls day which we are looking forward to is Thursday, 18th April. See you there.
