Chairman's Pen
Happy New Year to all!
I wish this new year uplifts everyone's spirits.
India's largest and first virtual expo on Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration is all set to start on
the 18th of January. The five day expo will feature visitors and buyers from 36 countries.
The expo will have matchmaking platform with overseas counterparts where one can participate in thematic
webinar with industry leaders and bureaucrats.
India ranks 24th in heating, 25th in AC and 33rd in refrigeration units. We are also the 16th largest global
supplier of equipment and parts for air-conditioning, refrigeration and ventilation.
USA, UAE and China were the three topmost destinations of India’s global exports of HVAC-R products in 2020
with their respective shares of 16.7%, 7.0% and 5.92% respectively in 2020. European Union (EU) is the largest
importer of India’s HVAC-R products among all the regions with a consumption of over one-fifth of India’s total
global exports of the same. North America and ‘Middle-east and West Asia’ (MEWA) are the immediate followers
of EU with respective shares of 18.2% and 16.5%. Both ASEAN and North-east Asia consumes over 10% of
India’s global exports of HVAC-R last year.
I am hopeful the figures will reach the magical numbers with all the markets opening up for global trade.
India’s goods exports surged to $37.29 billion in December, the highest ever monthly performance, posting
a year-on-year growth of 37 per cent, with top sectors including petroleum, gems & jewellery, engineering
products, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and textiles taking the lead.
The government estimated the economic growth for the year 2021-22 fiscal year at 9.2 per cent, expecting
limited impact of the third Covid wave on the economy.
I am sure in this scenario, an exhibition on HVAC –R will incentivize the overseas buyers to procure from India
thereby bolstering the Indian outbound shipments in the sector and helping the country to meet the USD 400
billion export target and USD 107 billion engineering export target in FY22.
All the best to all the exhibitors and visitors for the expo.
I wish you all a very good business among yourselves

a number of indigenous establishments as well. While the global names include brands like Carrier
Corporation, Daikin Industries Ltd., Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, LG Electronics Inc., Ingersoll-Rand
plc, and Panasonic Corporation among others have been competing in holding larger share of the market,
Indian firms including Blue Star Limited, Havells India Limited, and Voltas Limited also comfortably secure
