B. GRAMMAR
1. Comparative forms of adjectives: Review'
- So sánh hơn của tính từ sử dụng khi đưa ra phép so sánh giữa 2 đối tượng hoặc nhóm đối
tượng.
Form (Cấu trúc)
S1 + be + adj-er + than S2 (S2 + be). A car is bigger than a bike.
S1 + be + more + adj + than S2 (S2 + be). He is more careful than his brother.
How to form comparative adjectives (Cách biến đổi tính từ so sánh hơn)
Đối với tính từ ngắn: (1 âm tiết)
 Kết thúc bằng “e” -» thêm r wide  wider
 Kết thúc bằng 1 nguyên âm (u, e, o, a, i) và hot  hotter
1 phụ âm (trừ h, w, x, y, z)  nhân đôi phụ
âm cuối, rồi thêm “er”
 Còn lại + er cold  colder
Đối với tính từ dài (từ 2 âm tiết trở lên)
 Thêm “more” trước tính từ interesting  more interesting
 Lưu ý: tính từ 2 âm tiết kết thúc bằng y  pretty  prettier
đổi y thành ier
 Tính từ 2 âm tiết kết thúc bằng le, er, ow,et narrow narrower
 thêm “er” quiet quieter
