 Introduction
The work of art is called La Piedad de Miquel Angelo. As the title of the work says, the
author is Michelangelo Buonarroti. The sculpture is located in the city of Vatican City,
specifically in the Basilica of Saint Peter.
I want to highlight that there are more than 40 sculptures in Saint Peter's Basilica.

Was born in Toscana, Italy in 1475.

Sculptor, painter, architect and poet.
His most famous painting is probably the one in
the Sistine Chapel in the Vatican City.
Pope Clement VII commissioned him to build a
library in the Basilica of San Lorenzo in
Florence.
The Bacchus and the Pietà di San Pietro.
He died in 1564 in Roma.

 Sculpture description

Michelangelo's "Pietà" is a
marble sculpture that reveals
the Virgin Mary holding the
lifeless body of Jesus Christ. He
interprets the scene with the
Virgin holding Jesus after the
crucifixion, conveying serenity
and sadness. Michelangelo
rejects conventions by
depicting a younger Mary,
which was criticized but is now
acclaimed. With contrasts
between youth and old age.
 Message that get across

The Virgin’s the main character in this

sculpture, that’s why her figure and
proportions are bigger.
This piece shows Mary younger than Jesus
and without visible signs of suffering.
Jesus represents the human’s nature, the
death and pain.
She represents the piety and suffering for a
son’s loss.
 Conclusion
We believe that the works of art, in this case sculptures, are a good way of
transmitting the message we want to convey, through illustration.

And this is what we see with The Mercy, as Michelangelo wants to get across
the message of a mother asking for compassion for her son.

If there were no such jobs, our communication would be a bit more limited.
And the message would also be limited.
