A social survey on Filipino's Choice and Perspective about

the incoming 2022 National Elections at Barangay Manggang

Marikit, Guimba, Nueva Ecija

I N T R O D U C T I O N

Election is a formal process where a legal person has

their own right to choose a leader for the good of their

country by the use of voting system. This has been started

since the 17th century (Wikipedia, 2021) and still held until

today. Running for elections has set no high boundaries. You

just have to be a natural born Filipino, a registered voter,

must be able to read and write, 40 years of age at the day of

the election, and must have resided in the Philippines ten

years before the election is held (Official Gazette).

As of 23rd day of November 2021, there had been sixteen

persons who became presidents of the Philippines. And the

Philippine presidential and vice-presidential elections is

scheduled to be held on May 9, 2022. There are a total of 97

individuals want to run for president, while 29 individuals

for vice-president (Wikipedia, 2021). Many of the elected

individuals are recognized because of their popularity, while

on the other hand, most of the elected are disregarded.

 Manggang Marikit is a barangay in Guimba, Nueva Ecija,

in the municipality of Guimba. The population was 2,934

according to the 2020 Census. This amounted to 2.30 percent

of Guimba's total population. On the island of Luzon, this

barrio is located at roughly 15.6585, 120.7253. At these

coordinates, the elevation is calculated to be 34.1 meters or

111.9 feet above mean sea level (PhilAtlas, 2021).

A social survey is the systematic collection of social

data from a sample of the target population via standardized

interviews or questionnaires. This is a method of gathering

quantitative information regarding the social characteristics

of a community's composition and activities. The survey is

still the most effective, efficient, and cost-effective

research approach (Kumari,2020).

The general aim of this study is to evaluate Filipino’s

choice and perspective about the incoming 2022 national

elections by taking a social survey to some of the citizens

that lives in Barangay Manggang Marikit, Guimba, Nueva Ecija.
