Hi Everyone,

My name is Kim and I am an active duty Marine who has served honorably for 16 years, all of my
adult life. I generally enjoy the travel that I get to do with the job, and have enjoyed the different
duty stations as it allows me to see different parts of the country and the world that are so different
from Chicago where I was born and raised.
Obviously, with 16 years in, I am close enough to retirement that my plan is to continue to serve
those years while I finish my MBA and then decide what avenue I may pursue. I really enjoy the
business world, and specifically love real estate. I am currently dabbling, more learning, about the
pros and cons of short versus long term rentals with two different properties I own in the hopes of
making it more into a business to generate passive income. So if you have any experience or tips that
you would like to share, that would be great. The great thing about this specific type of business plan
is that for the most part once good tenants have been put into the rental, I am still able to easily
travel for my current job without much worry. As it is, there have been times that I have needed help
because of my travel, or finding those said good tenants can be difficult. I am hoping that when I
complete this degree, I will have the skills and knowledge that I need to start my own property
management business or go into another field after my retirement. Learning how to better market
myself and my property will be helpful to my goals in creating additional income.
