Q: What is Verified by Visa?


A: Verified by Visa is a service from Visa and your card issuer that provides greater peace of mind when
you shop online by providing added protection against unauthorized use of your enrolled card.

Q: How does it work?


A: When you use your Card to make an online purchase with a Merchant who uses the Service, and an
authentication is required, a Verified by Visa screen will appear, asking you to enter the one-time passcode
(OTP) we sent you by SMS Message, which will be used to verify your identity, in order for your purchase
to be processed. When you enter your OTP, you are accepting our Verified by Visa Terms of Service.

Q: What is OTP?
A: OTP is a "One-Time passcode" which is randomly generated and sent to your registered mobile number
for validation of the transaction. This is to provide an enhanced level of security on card transactions.

Q: How can I get enrolled in the OTP service?


A: The customer will be automatically registered in this service.

Q: How long the passcode will last?


A: The passcode will only be valid for the Transaction you have received it for. And it will have validity of
10 minutes after which the OTP will expire. In case OTP expires the transaction will be deemed as
unsuccessful.

Q: what should I do if the OTP expired?


A: You can click on the Resend Button or cancel and repeat the transaction.

Q: Do I have to have internet access?


A: You must have the ability to access the internet, and you must pay for any fees associated with such
access.

Q: What if I don’t have a mobile phone?


A: If you don’t have a mobile phone or you have not provided us with your mobile phone number, the
Service will not be able to send you a passcode through SMS Message.

Q: what do I need to do to use Verified by Visa?


A: It is important to ensure that your personal information held by us is up- to- date particularly your
mobile phone number. You must also ensure that your mobile is able to receive an SMS Message, and you
are responsible for any fee imposed by the mobile phone service provider.
Q: What do I do if I’m buying something online and no Verified by Visa screen appears?
A: The Verified by Visa screen will not always appear. This may be because, for example, you are making
a purchase from an online Merchant who does not use the Service.

Q: How do I use my Debit Card at an online merchant store?


A: First you need to activate the E-commerce Service, and when you want to buy something online,
usually, you will be asked to enter your basic debit card details. After that, a pop up window will appear
requesting you to enter your OTP. The OTP will be sent to your mobile number prior to any online
purchase. Once you submit the OTP, the transaction will be sent for authorization and the merchant
website will display a response to you.

Q: How can I activate the E-commerce Service?


A: In order to activate the E- commerce Service you need to visit one of the Bank Branches and fill out a
request form.

Q: Is the Verified by Visa passcode the same as the one that I’m using with my Bank of Baghdad Card?
A: No, Verified by Visa passcode is a “One Time Passcode” (OTP) that is generated every time you transact
online and is not the same passcode that you use with your Bank of Baghdad Card when performing a
point of sale (POS) based transaction or cash withdrawal from an ATM.

Q: what if I do not receive the OTP?


A: In case you do not receive the OTP, you can request for another OTP by pressing the Resend Button. If
you do not receive the OTP after multiple attempts, please visit one of the Bank Branches to verify your
mobile phone number with us.

Q: what if I provide an incorrect OTP?


A: You have several tries before authentication failed, to re-enable the service, you need to exit the
browser then open the same page and repeat the transaction.
