Concepts:
The volume of a prism is the amount of space inside the prism. Volume is measured in cubic units, which means
it tells you how many cubes of a given size it takes to fill the prism.
Volume of Prisms is the product of the base area (B) and the height (H).
V=l•w•h
= (3 m) (2 m) (6 m)
= 36 m 3
Volume of Pyramids is the amount of space inside the pyramid. Volume is measured in cubic units, which means
it tells us how many cubes of a given size it takes to fill the pyramid.

Volume of Cylinders is the product of the circular base area (B) and the height (h).
Formula: V = ℼ • r2 • h
= 282.6 cm3

Volume of Cone the formula for the volume of cone is the base area (B) times the height (h).

APPLICATION (Apply)
Activity 3
Solve the following problems. (No.1 is done for you)
1. A water tank is shaped like a cylinder. It is 20 meters tall and has a radius of 7 meters. How many
cubic meters of water can the tank hold? Round your answer to the nearest whole number.
1
Solution: V= • ℼ r2 • h
3

= (3.14) (7 m¿2 (20 m)
3
1
= (3.14) (49 m 2) (20 m)
3
