Brief review of Alibaba

The Chinese multinational technology company Alibaba Group Holding Limited, also known as Alibaba, is
focused on e-commerce, retail, the Internet, and technology. Established on June 28, 1999[1] in Hangzhou,
Zhejiang, the company offers local consumer, digital media and entertainment, logistics, and cloud computing
services in addition to consumer-to-consumer (C2C), business-to-business (B2B), and business-to-consumer
(B2C) sales services via Chinese and international marketplaces. It is the owner and operator of a varied
portfolio of businesses across multiple industries in the globe.

Alibaba raised US$25 billion in its initial public offering (IPO) on September 19, 2014, on the New York
Stock Exchange. This gave the company a market valuation of US$231 billion, making it by far the largest
IPO in history.[9] According to Forbes Global 2000 2020, it is the 31st-largest public company worldwide
and among the top 10 most valuable corporations [10].[11] After rival Tencent, Alibaba became the second
Asian company to surpass the US$500 billion valuation threshold in January 2018.[12] Alibaba has the ninth-
highest global brand valuation as of 2022.[13]

One of the biggest online retailers in the world is called Alibaba. It was ranked as the fifth-largest artificial
intelligence company in 2020 as well.[14] Through its fintech division Ant Group, it is also the second-largest
financial services group after Visa, ranking among the largest venture capital and investment firms globally.
The company runs the biggest C2C (Taobao), B2B (Tmall), and B2B (Alibaba.com) marketplaces globally.
