are forgiven of their minor sins)

● The 2nd floor is called or known as the Choir Loft.


● Stained glass on the left depicts the old testament, the right depicts the new testament.
● Small room on the front right side = private confession room
● Insignia on the entrance floor = HTA Logo, Hand of Father, 2 smiley faces = fish (secret
communication between Christians), Holy Spirit.

Baptistry - Has 2 elements


1. Baptismal fonts - Has 8 sides
2. Paschal candle - Christ’s light

● Center table - table of the eucharist (Altar) - has 5 crosses that signifies the 5 wounds of
Christ. Table of the Word.
● Lectern presider’s chair
● Cathedra Tabernacle - Sacred Host (contains the bread & wine blessed to turn into
flesh & blood of Jesus Christ)
● Sanctuary Lamp - 24/7 open light, if not lighted the content of the cathedra tabernacle
is missing
● Sacristy - where priests prepare and pray before and after the mass
● Lavabo - the water goes straight to the drain
● Sacrarium - where chalices are cleaned, the water goes straight to the plants
● Credence’s table - where stuff are put before the mass

Liturgical Calendar - Why? It is based on the Paschal Mystery (Passion, Death, and
Resurrection of Christ) or based on Christ’s life.
Gregorian Calendar - 12 months/365 or 366 days
Paschal Mystery - Passover* *tradition and festival of Jews, came from Israelites
Israelites = Book of Exodus contains the story of how Israelites fled Egypt. Moses saved
them by the command of God.
New Testament = Jesus’ last day is the festival of Passover.

Old Testament = God saved the Israelites | New Testament = Jesus saved the people from sin.
“Do this in memory of me.” As Christians, we pass this tradition to the next generation as our
duty.

LITURGICAL SEASON - ACOLPEO

Advent, Christmas, Ordinary Time, Lent, Paschal Triduum, Easter, Obligation

1. Advent - Violet = Royalty, A joyful expectation, season of preparation, preparing for the
birth of Jesus Christ.
4 Sundays = It is the new year of the Church.
2. Christmas Season - White or Gold = Joy & Glory. The time Jesus was born.
3. Ordinary Time - Green = Growth & Hope. Longest season
34 Sundays = corresponds to the age of Christ = Part 1 and 2
1 = after Christmas until Ash Wednesday 2 = from Monday to before Advent
4. Lenten - Purple = Penitential. Starts at Ash Wednesday and ends on Holy Thursday.
Lasts 40 days. Celebration of Easter ( resurrection of Jesus )
5. Paschal Triduum - Holy Week = 3 days = starts Mass of the Lord Supper = 1st day
priests wear white, 2nd day priests wear red. Commemorates passion, death, and
resurrection of Jesus.
6. Easter Season - 50 days of exultation = White or Gold = The Church is celebrating
Sanctoral - fixed day of Saints’ feast.
7. Holy Day of Obligation - Jan 1, Dec 8, Dec 25. Requires Christians to attend/ go to the
Church.

Side Note: March 25 is the day Gabriel approached Mary. 9 months from that Jesus was born
(December 25)
