Memoir

The best part of my senior project was getting the opportunity to meet so many people
from so many different backgrounds. Meeting the people I have cared for and those I
currently care for is the most rewarding part of obtaining my nursing assistant
license.
The worst part of my senior project was most likely juggling the seventy-ish hours
needed as well as two jobs and school. The online classes seemed to get longer and
longer and the amount of notes that needed to be written down was difficult.

Three things I learned from my senior project, that are most important to me, include
how to care for people, whether they have mental and/or physical disabilities. Things
like taking vitals, and ensuring that the residents get the best quality of life possible.
Working with the residents has helped me understand how truly different everyone is.

The thing about my project that was the biggest stretch was the amount of online work
it was. Working almost forty hours a week while trying to do the online hours and go
to school still was super draining. Sitting behind a computer screen for that long was
also super hard for me to do, because I work better hands-on.

Obtaining my CNA helped me with better time management, and selfless-ness, and
overall helped me to be better oriented in healthcare. Becoming a CNA has helped me
with decision-making about my future. I enjoy being in a healthcare setting and
helping people. Although I love being a CNA I absolutely couldn’t do a job this
physically taxing for the rest of my life. Nursing or Physical Therapy go hand-in-hand
with being a nursing assistant and I believe I would like to do those later on in life.

I think if I were to do something differently about my senior project I would probably

just make sure that I had chosen a less time-consuming project, although it was super
useful to me it was very hard at the time.

My advice for next year's seniors is to take pictures! Log the hours as you go and keep
up to date on what you are doing in Senior Sem. More freedom as a senior is so great
but you haven't graduated yet and still need to focus on the steps to get there.
If I were to give myslef a grade, I would give myself an A for effort, but probably a B-
overall. It was hard and I knew it would be hard and time-consuming. I knew what I
needed to do and when it should be completed and I was still slacking and
procrastinating
