CHAPTER 1: EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The internship was carried out at AEP CERTIFICATE The company works on steel and
reinforced Concrete structural 3D modeling, Detailing, and Quantity Estimation which can
provide clear fabrication drawings and 3D rendering views of structures to the clients for a
better view of understanding the assembly parts and it provides services to clients from
various countries like USA, Canada, Australia, UK, India and also countries who follow
these above-mentioned countries codal provisions.
Introduction
Steel structures continue to be widely used in construction due to their strength, durability,
and versatility. In present times, advancements in technology and engineering have allowed
for even more efficient and innovative designs using steel. These structures are commonly
found in skyscrapers, bridges, industrial buildings, and even residential homes.
Additionally, sustainability concerns have led to the development of environmentally
friendly steel production methods and the use of recycled steel in construction projects.
Overall, steel structures remain a cornerstone of modern construction due to their numerous
benefits and adaptability to various architectural designs and engineering requirements.
The software which are used to model and detail are follows:
1. RevitStructures: RevitStructures is renowned for its advanced Building Information
Modeling (BIM) capabilities, particularly in the field of structural engineering and
detailing. It allows users to create detailed 3D models of buildings and structures,
enabling accurate design, fabrication, and construction planning. RevitStructures is
favored for its robust steel detailing tools, clash detection features, and seamless
integration with fabrication software.
2. Autodesk Revit: Revit is a comprehensive BIM software solution developed by
Autodesk, offering tools for architectural design, MEP (mechanical, electrical, and
plumbing) engineering, structural engineering, and construction. It allows users to
create intelligent 3D models that encompass various building components and
systems. Revit facilitates collaboration among project stakeholders, supports
parametric modeling, and offers a range of analysis and visualization tools.
1
Both RevitStructures and Revit are continually evolving, with updates and new features
released regularly to enhance usability, performance, and interoperability. Users often
choose between the two based on specific project requirements, personal preferences, and
the existing software ecosystem within their organizations. Additionally, interoperability
between RevitStructures and Revit has improved over the years, enabling smoother
collaboration between structural engineers and architects working on the same project.
Learning Objectives
During the internship, I learned
1. Understanding Structural Engineering Principles
2. Interpreting Architectural and Engineering Drawings
3. Attention to Detail and Accuracy
4. Time Management and Prioritization
5. Problem-solving and Critical Thinking
Learning Outcomes
Summary
In summary, steel structures are an integral part of modern construction, offering strength,
durability, versatility, and economic efficiency. With their aesthetic appeal, sustainability

WEEKLY REPORT
Completed the Revitonline course which was steel structures fundamentals and also started modeling in
Revitsoftware.
Detailed Report:
I was tasked with further developing the modeling of bracing elements within a structure,
likely a car shed initially and then a pipe rack. Modeling in Revitinvolves creating a digital
representation of structural elements, including columns, beams, braces, etc., within the
software environment. I took the initiative to learn about connection design, a crucial aspect of
structural engineering that ensures the stability and integrity of a structure by joining different
components together. Learning from a senior connection designer implies that you gained
knowledge from someone experienced in the field, likely understanding various types of
connections, their purposes, and how to design them effectively. Applied learned connections
in the pipe rack model. I implemented the connection design concepts you learned into the
modeling of the pipe rack. This likely involved incorporating appropriate connection details
between structural elements such as beams, columns, braces, etc., ensuring that they are
properly joined and capable of withstanding the required loads and stresses.

WEEKLY REPORT
After completing the model in Tekla, the next I implemented numbering and was done with a final
report and then created drawings for single-parts, and assembly.
Detailed Report:
After completing the model, I was tasked with assigning numbering to the model, ensuring
each component is uniquely identified for organizational purposes. Once the numbering was
complete, I generated the final report, providing a comprehensive overview of the entire
structure. Following this, I proceeded to create single-part and assembly drawings based on the
model. In the single-part drawings, I meticulously dimensioned each component, providing
precise measurements and specifications essential for fabrication. This ensured that each part
could be accurately manufactured according to the design requirements.
Continuing with the single-part drawings, I refined the dimensions and annotations, ensuring
clarity and accuracy in the fabrication process. Meanwhile, in the assembly drawings, I
dimensioned the overall structure, including the arrangement and relationships between
different components.
Continuing with the assembly drawings, I refined the dimensioning and annotations to
accurately represent how each part fits together within the larger structure. This meticulous
detailing is crucial for assembly teams to understand how the components integrate and for
quality assurance throughout the construction process.
