Calculating the effect of a $300/month increase in BasePay on TotalPay

Annual increase = $300 * 12 = $3600

When only the Base Pay increases by $300/month without affecting Overtime
Pay or Other Pay, the mean and median of Total Pay will both increase by
$300x12=3600, since the increase in Base Pay directly contributes to Total Pay.
However, the standard deviation will remain unchanged because it measures the
dispersion or spread of the data, and the proportional relationships between
values remain the same

Function Total Pay

NEW MEDIAN 1
NEW STD DEV 20495.252

When all components (Base Pay, Overtime Pay, and Other Pay) increase by 3%,
the mean, median, and mode of Total Pay will increase by a factor of 3%. This is
because all values are being scaled equally, so the proportional relationships
within the data remain the same, leading to a proportional increase in these
measures. However, the standard deviation will also increase because the
spread of the data increases with the increase in all components.

1D

Part (b) demonstrates that changes affecting only one component of the data,
while keeping others constant, will impact the mean and median but not the
standard deviation. On the other hand, part (c) illustrates that proportional
changes across all components will affect all statistical measures proportionally,
including the standard deviation. Therefore, the mean and median are sensitive
to changes in the centre of the distribution, while the standard deviation is
sensitive to changes in the spread of the distribution.

When the mean exceeds the median, it shows a positively skewed distribution,
indicating a few very high values pulling the average up. In terms of movie
revenues, blockbuster hits greatly inflate the total, skewing the mean higher
compared to the median.

ANS 2 D - High revenue movies are evident by a large standard deviation

relative to the mean and median, showcasing significant dispersion.
