Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

1. I will be two years experienced by 31st July 2022. (A difference of one month from what is mentioned
in the eligibility). Can I make still apply for this?
The two years eligibility criterion is mandatory. Associates who will be completing two years with TCS on
or before 30th June 2022 only, will be eligible.

2. With my B.E. degree is Computer Science / Information Technology Engineering, am I eligible to join
the courses offered?
No. Associates who have a bachelor’s degree in any one of the following streams only are eligible to enroll
for the course:
• Electronics & Communication Engineering
• Electrical & Electronics Engineering
• Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering
• Instrumentation & Control Engineering
• Mechatronics

3. What is the timing of the course - Weekend or evening classes?


This is a full-time regular M Tech course.

4. If get any onsite deputation in my team during the course, can I continue with the course once I come
back?
This is a full-time residential course and associates will not be considered for any other assignment during
this tenure of two years. The associate will not be a part of any delivery centered or customer facing
project team.

5. I have done my M.Tech previously, am I eligible for applying to this course?


No. Associates who have already completed their master’s degree in engineering or technology (M.E or
M.Tech) are not eligible for this program.

6. How do I need to send the application?


Associates should have a prior discussion with their respective supervisor, GL/ PM/PL for obtaining
appropriate formal approvals and communicate the same to ramanathan.annamalai@tcs.com and
krishnan.kutty@tcs.com

8. Is there any agreement that associate need to sign for enrolling to this program?
Yes. Associate will sign an agreement with TCS. The associate will be bound by the agreement for 2 years
after completion of the course

9. What are the components of sponsorship for residential course?


TCS will bear the entire course fee for the associates who get selected and are enrolled for the M. Tech
program.
10. Will I be getting my salary during the course duration?
Yes, the associate is entitled for full salary (as if he/she were working in any other project) during the
tenure of M. Tech in Amrita University.

11. What is the arrangement for stay/accommodation at Amrita?


The hostel accommodation will be provided at Amrita. The expenses for food and accommodation are to
be borne by the associate.

12. Will these two years be counted in my overall experience?


Yes, these two years will be counted for all the applicable benefits

13. What subjects are to be prepared for TCS internal test?

14. Can I discontinue the course after getting enrolled?


No. Since TCS is bearing the entire course fee, you are expected to complete the course with utmost
dedication and research mindset.

15. Is this course AICTE approved?


Yes. The course is approved by AICTE.

16. How about my appraisal during the two years?


The associate will have the standard appraisal cycle, as is the case with any other TCS employee. The
appraisal will be based primarily on the performance and marks obtained during the tenure of the M.Tech
program.

17. What about my allocation during the M.Tech course?


Separate allocation will be provided to all the selected associates for the entire 2-year duration.

18. I have completed my B.Tech 10 years ago. Can I still apply, in spite of the large time lapse since
B.Tech?
Yes. There is only a minimum experience requirement of 2 years in TCS. There is no upper limit to the
number of years of experience to nominate for the course.

19. I was selected and short listed during previous academic year process, do I need to apply and appear
for TCS internal selection this year again?
Yes. You need to apply again for the selection process for this academic year.
20. I am interested in pursuing a Ph.D. Does TCS sponsor such a program?
There is no TCS sponsored Ph.D program now.

21. Who will pay the fees at Amrita University? Will my current project have to bear this cost?
TCS will bear the entire tuition fees. This cost will not be tagged to the project or your current account in
TCS.

22. What happens after I graduate from the course?


Post your graduation; by matching the project requirement(s) at that time against your skillsets, you
will be assigned to a project.

22. Will I get a work location of my choice after the completion of the course?
You will need to report to any TCS location as per project demand. Typical locations (not limited to) for
projects are - Pune, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad and Nagpur.

22. What will the appraisal process be. What are the typical imperatives?
Your appraisal will be completely based on your academic performance during your M.Tech. You are
expected to excel in your academics and adhere strictly to all the norms and regulations as laid down by
the University.

22. What are some sample future projects or technologies that I may get involved after successful
completion of M. Tech?
Here is a sample list of project areas/technologies which the graduated associates have been working
on over the past few years:
 Machine Learning and Deep Learning algorithm and tool development for Autonomous driving
 Hands on experience in integration and development of in-house autonomous vehicle
 Design and development of EV subsystems for a European OEM
 Development of algorithms for high end cybersecurity in automotive
 Virtualization for validation and verification of ADAS and AD
 Implementation and Performance Analysis of Federated Learning for Autonomous Driving - Steering Angle
Prediction
 RealAI - An approach to generate realistic data
 A regenerative braking system composed single pedal and AI for electric vehicle
 Implementation of light weight cryptographic algorithm over CAN bus
