MEANING
• An education portal is an online platform that
simplifies a school’s logistics with advantages for
everyone on board – students, teachers, parents, and
administration. Digital education very simply refers
to the use of technology in education as it uses
digital tools, online platforms, and interactive
content to give everyone access to high-quality
education, bridge geographical gaps, and raise a
generation with a wide range of skills for a globally
connected world.
ADVANTAGES
❖ Materials are always available to students—24 hours a day, 7 days a week . This gives
students complete flexibility over when and where they study, enabling them to take
control over the best times to study for themselves as well as how much, and access to a
global community.

❖ Students gain the ability to communicate through Digital Platforms that were previously
not available. This means that students can ask questions, provide feedback, and
engage in projects with their peers in a way that was not possible before.

❖ The different types of digital learning tools help boost student motivation to learn. The
engaging and interactive elements make learning fun and interesting With the help of
digital tools.

❖ Digital technology offers significant cost savings to schools and students, as compared
to traditional methods of teaching. Between all these sources of savings, cost-cutting can
be an enormous benefit of online classes.

❖ Technology gives educational institutions the ability to track student progress closely. it's
much easier for a teacher or assessor to mark a student's strengths and weaknesses.

GOVT PLATFORMS
DIKSHA :- diksha.gov.in.
DIKSHA stands for (Digital Infrastructure for Knowledge Sharing). It is a National
Teacher Platform Launched on 5th Sep 2017 by Honorable Vice President of India –
(Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu), which is currently being used by teachers and students
across the nation to provide school education through distance mode. Amidst the
disruption of schooling due to COVID-19, DIKSHA makes it possible for all states
and Union Territories to enable learning and education at home through innovative
state programs. DIKSHA is leapfrogging the use of technology for the benefit of
teachers and learners across India.

Features
▪ DIKSHA will serve as National Digital Infrastructure for Teachers. All teachers
across the nation will be equipped with advanced digital technology.
▪ It is built considering the whole teacher’s life cycle – from the time student
teachers enroll in Teacher Education Institutes (TEIs) to after they retire as
teachers.
▪ There will be direct interaction between teachers and students.
▪ Students will be able to understand concepts in an easy and interactive manner.
CHALLENGES
❖ A lot of technology-based adaptations will have to be encountered by
the Government to ensure that digital education can be reached out to
students across the country.
KEY TYPES OF CHALLENGES ARE :-
▪ Availability of internet connection to all is one of the biggest requirements
for digital education. This will have to be achieved by the Government for
easy access to information.
▪ Providing the devices and technology to the people belonging from socio-
economically weak sections so that they are not deprived of education.

▪ Training teachers is another challenge. Only when the teachers are

technically sound, they can conduct the digital classes.
▪ Making digital cost-effective should be a key motive of the Government.
▪ To ensure that Government schools and colleges are provided with proper
facilities for digital classrooms.
AIM AND GOALS
❖ The aim of digital education in India is to make learning accessible
to all. This is regardless of geographical location or socio-economic
background.

❖ Digital education aims to bridge the educational divide by reaching

remote areas.

❖ The goal of digital education is to provide flexibility in learning. It

allows students to access educational resources anytime and
anywhere.

❖ Digital education encourages innovation and creativity among

students. It provides them with access to a wide range of digital
resources for exploration.

❖ It’s aims to promote digital literacy among students and teachers &
utilize technology to adopt to individual learning styles and paces.
LIMITATIONS
❖ It may be impersonal :-
No matter how hard we try to fully transfer human communication to
online platforms, no matter how natural it seems to form relationships
behind computer screens, a virtual environment is just not human.
Nothing can replace human contact.
❖ It requires self-discipline :-
If your eLearning audience lacks self-discipline, it is unlikely that they
will be motivated to self study. Traditional learning and training have
the benefit of easily tracking both progress and falling behind; this
works for many learners as well, as some people prefer their progress
to be closely monitored in order to perform.
❖ Too much time spent in front of a computer screen may be
harmful :-
Being constantly online is the new reality, but the truth is that using a
computer or a tablet all the time can cause poor vision, strain injuries,
and other physical problems. Consider sending guidelines about right
sitting posture, desk height, etc. along with your eLearning course; it
might be very useful to your audience.
CONCLUSION

❖ Digital India initiative is one of the significant program

that introduced by government of India to make the Indian
governance more transparent and to connect government
facilities with high speed internet to every village and
remote areas and to transform India into digitally
empowered country.
