LET’S GET STARTED

WHAT is a Virtual Lab?
The purpose of a virtual lab is to give students the lab experience
when it is just not possible. The virtual lab is a great alternative to
simply giving notes on the topic and allows the students to have a
lab-like experience from the comfort & safety of their home.. Allow
students to discover the information on their own instead of the
teacher sharing the information.

WHAT TECHNOLOGY DO I NEED TO ACCESS

THESE RESOURCES?
Both teacher and students need access to the Internet to view the
Worksheet. The teacher will provide the students with the link to the
worksheets which can be accessed using tablets, Chromebooks, PCs or
Macs. A google classroom is not necessary to access the worksheets but
is one way that the teacher can share the link & collect responses (this
would be set up separately by the teacher, instructions on how to do so are
NOT included. Students also must be able to view YouTube for parts of
this lab.

STUDENT INSTRUCTIONS
These instructions will help students get started. I suggest posting them to your
Learning Management System if you are virtual. Once students open the file in
google slides, they will be able to type directly on the worksheet while in EDIT.
Text boxes have already been placed in the appropriate spots.

You are about to complete a Virtual Lab Experience. Trace evidence

plays and important role in forensic investigation. You will be exploring
how to properly collect fiber evidence, microscopic analysis of the
evidence and finally using a burn test to identify fibers.

All of the websites are linked in the digital file. Even if you are working
on physical paper you will need the digital file to access the
information. You would then need to scan or take a picture of your
lab to turn in. Alternately, you can type directly on the pages in
google slides and turn in that way.

Remember you can use the magnifying glass in the tool bar to zoom
in if you need to text to be larger.
