P5 - Outline social media channels to be used in a digital marketing campaign

In this scenario, Nicholas Breakspear Catholic School can advertise their new great
achievement through social media. This is because social media digital marketing is a
perfect way to access their target audience and promote their school and achievement.

Facebook
Nicholas Breakspear Catholic School could use Facebook to create a formal account to
promote the school and communicate with the public. As the people mostly using Facebook
in the United Kingdom are mostly middle aged people, the posts made by the school on
Facebook would mostly be parents and carers of the pupils. This means that the school
could publish stories or posts about them being rated ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted. Nicholas
Breakspear Catholic School can also post about new events or activities that are happening
within school so that people are aware of what is going on within the school and allowing the
public to also see how great the school is doing. This also allows posts and stories to be
interacted with and people being able to add comments where the school can publicly
interact with people through the posts. Furthermore, the messenger component of Facebook
allows people to privately message the school, allowing for direct communication about
anything that is happening within the school.

Using Facebook would be greatly beneficial towards Nicholas Breakspear Catholic School
and it would put them a step forward towards their goals. This means that the school would
be able to reach out towards their target audience of parents and students aged from 13 - 45
through facebook and being able to attract students to attend the school and persuade
parents to send their child to Nicholas Breakspear. This is because if the school starts
posting about the events happening within the sixth form centre as quoted by Ofsted “sixth-
form students describe a range of enrichment activities that frequently provide them with the
opportunity to develop their character.” This would entice students to choose to attend that
school and parents to send their child to that school for further education. Therefore, the
school reached their goals of expanding their sixth-form centre.

Nicholas Breakspear Catholic School can also use instagram to promote their great new
achievement. This is because instagram has features such as posting stories that are taken
down after 24 hours, this is great for posting something quick and day to day to update
parents on activity within school. Also, a feature of posting permanent posts of significant
things that are happening within the school and news people should know about. These
features are great as they will allow the school to promote their new ‘outstanding’ rating with
the public and entice more people to attend the school. Also, the story aspect can allow the
school to give day to day updates of the school so parents can even see what’s going on
within the school and feel happy knowing what is going on around their child’s life knowing
they are in a great environment.

Instagram also has a direct messaging option allowing parents to directly privately message
the school about anything they want to communicate about. This is greatly beneficial as it
would make parents feel like the school is easily accessible and they could find out all they
need to know whenever. This leaves a good brand image for the school including the posts
and stories presenting the aura of the school and enticing more students and teachers to
apply and attend the school

posts about anything significant happening within the school. This is because twitter has a
character limit meaning when they make a post it can only be a certain length. Therefore,
the school will have to create short and interesting posts about events or notices within
school so that parents and pupils are informed. This can also be used to promote their
success of becoming an ‘outstanding’ school and creating a hashtag that they and other ]s
could use correlating to their new achievement. Twitter can also directly communicate
through the platform, so if anyone is trying to query anything said by the school, they can
directly address it publicly so that everyone who is concerned can also be reassured. Twitter
also has a mention feature, meaning the school can mention anyone who has partaken in an
event or mention any parents who has helped within the school. This allows people to view
and appreciate that person especially and see what greatness they have implemented within
the school.

Twitter can be a great asset for Nicholas Breakspear Catholic School as it would allow them
to reach their younger and middle aged audience. This means that it would support them in
reaching their goals as the younger audience would view the school through the twitter
platform and view the success that is happening within the school and entice them to attend
the sixth form and parents viewing the school would be more persuaded to send their child

Snapchat is an app that allows users to privately message and start conversions, but also
create public stories that stay up for 24 hours. This means that Nicholas Breakspear
Catholic School will be able to create short term posts about anything that is happening
within school and allow people to view and interact with the story through private
conversations. Snapchat is mainly used by the younger generation, aged from 13 - 25.
Therefore, the school would be able to interact with the younger people presenting them the
funny and intellectual things happening within school and updating them of any events or
tasks they should be prepared for. Snapchat would allow the school to create a better
relationship with the students and create a more inclusive way to communicate and reach
their pupils.
