In the first reading, Peter is witness to the outpouring of

present were amazed by the power of that love upon those
who have not yet known Him. Then, we have John in his
letter, urging us to love one another because God loves us.
He sent His only Son into the world so that we may have life.
He sent His only Son into the world to die for our sins! For
our salvation! What other proof of love of God for us do we
need? And yet, we sometimes doubt.

If this exhortation is not convincing enough, let Jesus speak

to us Himself. In the Gospel today, He tells us that he wants
us to remain in His love. He wants our joy to be complete. He
continues to tell us that he loves us and commands us to

Remain in
love one another as He has loved us. How many times do we
need to be told? Jesus’ love for us is active love. He reminds
us that He has laid down His life for us. Such a profession of
love for us cannot but demands a response of the same. He

My Love
does not want passive love. No lip service. He wants us to go
out and bear fruit that will last, to bear witness to Him. And
SCRIPTURE more, if we do as He says, God our Father will give us what
