E1-Project Guideline
The 1st mid-term test is designed to evaluate CLO1 which is about group work. Students work in
groups of four to fulfill a task, which is to carry on a conversation about one situation which may
happen in real life. Firstly, each group is randomly assigned a topic in the coursebook, from Unit
1 to Unit 5. Then, the group discusses and finalizes a situation related to the given topic and
create a conversation for that situation. Finally, all group members act out the conversation in 3-
4 minutes. Their performance is recorded on video and sent to teacher for grading.
After 10 sessions, group must submit a project package including:
A group work schedule (task division, timeline)
Meeting minutes
A group work report* (reasons for your grouping, outcome, efficiency, achievement,
contribution of each member)
A video
Note: The report (a group work report) must include information about the group's participation
scores and be signed by all members of the group. The project score is the average of the
grading group and the teacher's score.
For example:
Topic: Party
Situation 1: You’re going to attend a costume party on this Saturday night. Discuss with your
partners about that party.
You should say:
- Different type of clothes?
- Why/suitable? Why/like?
- Where/buy?
- Your own ideas
Topic: Relaxing time
Situation 1. You and your friends have a day off and you want to go around the city to relax.
Discuss with your friends about the trip
You should say:
- Why/day off?
- Where /go? Why?
- How much money/each person/ pay? What/pack?
- Your own ideas
Topic: School & Study / Entertainment
Situation 1. You and some friends have learned to play a kind of musical instrument since you
were a child. Discuss with your friend about your instrument.
You should say:
- Kind of musical instrument?
- How long/learned?
- Join/ any clubs? join/ any competition?
- Your own ideas
