Assessment 1: Reflective Prompt

My hopes and goals for learning about curriculum development are to gain a
deep understanding of the principles and theories that underpin effective curriculum
design. We knew from our previous session that we will use the ADDIE format for
developing a curriculum. With this format, I am hoping to develop the skills and
knowledge necessary to create knowledge necessary to create engaging, inclusive, and
effective curricula that meet the needs of diverse learners. I also aim to learn how to
incorporate 21st-century skills, technology, and real-world applications into
curriculum development.

I work as a school head in one of the private Madrasahs in Maguindanao. So, I

envision applying the knowledge and skills gained in this course by using the insights
and strategies learned to lead and manage our institution effectively. This includes
implementing best practices in instructional leadership, curriculum development, and
assessment to ensure students' highest quality of education. Additionally, I will
leverage the knowledge gained in this course to stay informed about current trends
and best practices in education. This will enable me to make informed decisions and
lead my team in continuously improving teaching and learning strategies.

Furthermore, I anticipate using the skills and knowledge gained from this
course to lead and support professional development opportunities for staff. By
providing ongoing training and support, I can help educators grow and excel in their
practice, ultimately benefiting the students they serve.

As I embark on the journey of curriculum development, there are some

questions and uncertainties that come to mind such as; How can I ensure that the
curriculum aligns effectively with the broader educational goals and mission of the
school? Are the proposed learning objectives aligned with the school's vision for
student success? Do teachers possess the necessary expertise and skills to implement
the new curriculum effectively? How can I support their professional development to
ensure they are adequately prepared? How do I ensure the curriculum is accessible
and relevant to all students, including those from diverse backgrounds, abilities, and
learning styles? What steps can be taken to promote equity and inclusivity throughout
development?

This reflection will guide my learning throughout the course by

allowing me to continuously assess and adjust my approach to curriculum
development as I gain new insights and knowledge. I look forward to the learning
experience and the opportunity to grow as an educational leader in curriculum
development.
