Harry’s Bar

Harry’s Bar is one of Venice’s most distinguished and expensive restaurants. Owner Arrigo Cipriani,
son of the original owner, claims that many Venetian specialties were created here – the ‘Bellini’ (a

The only fine-dining restaurant located in Piazza San Marco, Ristorante Quadri boasts one of the
Venice's most incredible views and has had a Michelin star since 2012. The cuisine is a contemporary
expression of Italian and Venetian classics and the menu, created by Max Alajmo and delivered by
executive chef Silvio Giavedoni, highlights ingredients sourced directly from the Venetian lagoon,
primarily fish that arrive daily from the Rialto market. The atmosphere in the dining room is elegant, yet

Osteria Oliva Nera is a charming local osteria run by Dino and his wife Isabella, who have greeted
everyone with a smile and a warm welcome since 2000. The cuisine remains true to Venetian
traditions in its simplicity, with only minor changes by the chefs. With a traditional menu that changes
several times during the year, you can expect to find typical dishes such as ‘sarde in saor’ (lightly fried
sardines and onions marinated in vinegar), ‘baccalà mantecato’ (creamed air-dried cod), ‘bigoli in
salsa’ (spaghetti with anchovies and onions) and local fish and squid.

This casual spot makes for a great change from standard Venetian food. The location is in the heart of
the Rialto market in a fifteenth-century loggia, with tables upstairs in a carefully restored room that has
a partial view of the Grand Canal – the outdoor seating allows for a full view in warm weather.
Luscious, light meals are served in what used to be Venice's first private bank. Though pasta is not
served here, the fresh fish served with vegetables, as well as the regional cheeses and sausages, are
delicious. The ‘branzino con arancia e cumino’ (sea bass with orange and cumin) is a particular treat.

You might find a queue out of the door, but it is always a good sign and it is most definitely worth the
wait. You cannot leave Venice without tasting the real traditional cicchetti with a fresh Spritz, and this
lunch-only bacaro is the perfect place - only three minutes from the Rialto Bridge. Small and cosy, it
provides a great selection of cicchetti and great value for reasonable prices.
