Partition Steel Framing System
Limiting Heights:
1. Limiting heights calculated are based on the theoretical properties of steel stud and deflection limits of L/120; L/240; and L/360 resulted from
a uniform load of 5psf (240Pa) on partition surface, per ASTM C754 and GA-600 Gypsum Association. Limiting heights shown vary with steel
thickness; steel grade; stud dimensions; stud spacing; allowable deflection limits; and design load level.
2. The design data shown are according to strength and deflection calculations, assuming all stud members being simply supported on a single
span; with unperforated section properties; and full lateral support to both flanges in flexure.
3. Proposed stud framing system may also be designed to conform to prevailing codes e.g. BS 5950 Part 5:1998 "Structural use of steelwork in
Building - Code of practice for design of cold formed thin gauge sections".
