Q# 1 Find the power set and cardinality of the given set A  1, 2,3, 4 .  Also
find the cardinality of power set.
Sol: The power set of a set A, denoted by P(A), is the collection of all subsets of A.
For A = {1, 2, 3, 4}, the power set is:
P(A) = { {}, {1}, {2}, {3}, {4}, {1, 2}, {1, 3}, {1, 4}, {2, 3}, {2, 4}, {3, 4}, {1, 2, 3}, {1, 2, 4},
{1, 3, 4}, {2, 3, 4}, {1, 2, 3, 4} }
The cardinality of the power set of A is 2^4 = 16.
Q#02

Let X  1, 2, 4,6,8 be a universe of discourse set,

A  (1,0),(2,1),(4,0.3),(6,0.5),(8,0.2) and
B  (1,0.7),(2,0.5),(4,0.4),(6,0.1),(8,1)be two fuzzy sets on X. Evaluate:
(AB)c=AcBc
(AB)c=AcBc
Sol:
1. Calculate complement of A and B:

= {(1, 1-0.7), (2, 1-0.5), (4, 1-0.4), (6, 1-0.1), (8, 1-1)}
= {(1, 0.3), (2, 0.5), (4, 0.6), (6, 0.9), (8, 0)}

- = {(1, 1-0), (2, 1-0.5), (4, 1-0.4), (6, 1-0.1), (8, 1-1)}
= {(1, 1), (2, 0.5), (4, 0.6), (6, 0.9), (8, 0)}
2. Find the maximum between A^c and B^c for each element:
- (1, max(0.3, 1)) = (1, 1)
- (2, max(0.5, 0.5)) = (2, 0.5)
- (4, max(0.6, 0.6)) = (4, 0.6)
- (6, max(0.9, 0.9)) = (6, 0.9)
- (8, max(0, 0)) = (8, 0)

Therefore = {(1, 1), (2, 0.5), (4, 0.6), (6, 0.9), (8, 0)}.

1. Calculate A ∧ B (minimum between corresponding elements):

- A ∧ B = {(1, min(0, 0.7)), (2, min(1, 0.5)), (4, min(0.3, 0.4)), (6, min(0.5, 0.1)), (8, min(0.2,
1))}
= {(1, 0), (2, 0.5), (4, 0.3), (6, 0.1), (8, 0.2)}

2. Find the maximum between A ∧ B and or (already calculated):

- (1, max(0, 0.3)) = (1, 0.3)
- (2, max(0.5, 0.5)) = (2, 0.5)
- (4, max(0.3, 0.6)) = (4, 0.6)
- (6, max(0.1, 0.9)) = (6, 0.9)
- (8, max(0.2, 0)) = (8, 0.2)
