Supply Chain Management 1-2. It is the management of the flow of goods, information
and other resources.

EXPLANATION (5 pts):

Manufacturers may produce as many goods as necessary to satisfy consumer demand because
to supply chain management. It assists merchants in cutting back on surplus inventory and
product storage expenses. The handling of the complete manufacturing flow of goods or
services, from the procurement of raw materials to the delivery of the finished product to
customers, is known as supply chain management. A business establishes a network of
suppliers to transfer the product from vendors of raw materials to businesses that interact
directly with consumers.

Manufacturing 3-4. Focuses on converting raw materials into finished products.

EXPLANATION (5 pts):

Manufacturing is processing raw materials or parts into finished goods through the use of
tools, human labor, machinery, and chemical processing. Manufacturing allows businesses to
sell finished products at a higher cost than the value of the raw materials used.

Product Flow 5-6. Includes moving goods from supplier to consumer.

EXPLANATION (5 pts):

Product flow describes the various relationships that can exist between processes and
products. Product flow can, describe how a number of products can be used and/or produced
in one process step, or how various steps can produce one product.

Distribution Management 7-8. Process of supervising and managing the movement of


goods from supplier or manufacturer to the point of sale.

EXPLANATION (5 pts):

Distribution management manages the supply chain for a firm, from vendors and
suppliers to manufacturer to point of sale, including packaging, inventory,
warehousing, and logistics. Adopting a distribution management strategy is important
for a company's financial success and corporate longevity.

Core Product 9-10. It concerns the item itself. Includes product features and the ease of
use.

EXPLANATION (5 pts):

A core product or flagship product is a company's primary promotion, service or product that
can be purchased by a consumer. Core products may be integrated into end products, either by
the company producing the core product or by other companies to which the core product is
sold.

36-45. Explain how the growth in competition helps to understand the importance of
customer service. Explain your words in 5 sentences.

Good customer service always helps retain your customers. It is what keeps your customers
coming back for more purchases. Retaining customers increases your revenue and it’s also
much cheaper to keep a customer than to try to gain a new one. You can retain your
customers by offering personalized experiences, convenience, and attentive customer service.
Customer loyalty is a customer’s commitment to your business or to your brand. A loyal
customer will always select your business over another brand and this helps to eliminate your
competition. Without a doubt, loyal customers are a very valuable asset for a business to
have. Repeat customers almost always purchase more and more often. You can encourage
customer loyalty by offering your customers rewards programs, good discounts, and excellent
customer service.

46-50. Explain the 80/20 rule in 3 sentences.

The well-known 80-20 rule, sometimes referred to as the Pareto Principle, states that 20% of
all causes (or inputs) account for 80% of all outcomes (or outputs) for any given occurrence.
The 80-20 rule in business aims to prioritize and discover inputs that have the potential to be
the most productive.
