Review: Lord of the Flies

The purpose of this review is to give information regarding the

movie “Lord of the Flies’’ and also to figure out if it’s worth
seeing or not. The movie is directed by Harry Hook and Sara
Schiff and it is a retelling of William Golding’s classic novel. It
displays the story of American schoolboys who were left
stranded on an isolated island after a plane crash.

The first thing you notice about the movie is that at first, the
boys stick together and try to communicate with one another,
but as soon as they discover the “beast” they split into two
camps. Seeing the boy’s different ways of managing survival is
one of the most captivating moment. While Ralph’s camp
encourages civility and dignity, Jack’s camp adopts a violent
militaristic style.

One problem with the movie is that it does not correspond to

some of the symbols of the book. While the novel presents some
scenes as absolutely horrid and terrifying, leaving you with
chills down your spine, the movie fails to embrace the focus on
the horror.

Overall, it is well worth seeing as it will make you understand

that between society and inhumanity stands an extremely thin
line. It is certainly a great choice if you want to enjoy a good old
movie with your family.
