Scenario of women entrepreneurs, minority entrepreneur,
senior entrepreneurs and young entrepreneurs in
perspective of Bangladesh

1 ) Women Entrepreneurs : While men are still more likely to start


business than women. The number of women owned business is
increasing.

Data from Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) show that in 2010


the number of the female owned business was 7.2% Additionally
8.4 million individuals or 10% of Bangladesh employments are
employed by women led SMEs.

According to research by the Bangladesh Institute of Development


shows that the number of female owned SMEs was 2.8 million in
2020 which was around 24.6% of the total number of SMEs in
Bangladesh.

Today women are increasingly enters in business sector and build


them as successful entrepreneur. Bangladesh and whole world
reflects women entrepreneurs as women empowerment.
2 ) Minority Entrepreneurs : The minority entrepreneurs in
Bangladesh ,like many other countries belong to religious groups,
ethnic people, disabled persons etc or other minority groups.

Minority entrepreneurs in Bangladesh have access to limited


financial resources and networks and business support. They also
face problems like language and cultural barriers.

Despite those challenges they also have some support from


Bangladesh Government and NGOs. BRAC and other micro
financing company in Bangladesh also help these minorities to build
their own business platform

For example: Sabangee: A platform for ethnic minority micro


entrepreneurs under the same roof”, and from this entire group truly
represents that meaning. It has successfully connected multiple
ethnic minorities over the entrepreneur. This platform help ethnic
minority entrepreneur for their visibility. Where ethnic group selling
their products and manifest them as successful entrepreneurs.

Today more minority groups in Bangladesh are entering to the


business as entrepreneurs and contribute to socio economic
development. And this way the number is increasing of participation
of minority group in Bangladesh.
3 ) Senior Entrepreneurs : The increase in entrepreneurial activity
among senior entrepreneurs consisting of people 55 years and
older between 1996 and 2010 is substantial from 14 percent to 23
percent. (Source : Text Book).

Now many people leaving their jobs and enters to business for
being an entrepreneur. It means that the number of senior
entrepreneurs in Bangladesh is increasing.

Because of many opportunities people can enjoy if they became


entrepreneurs people are changing their choice of platform despite
of working in jobs.

It is to be said that it is never too late to became an entrepreneur .


In Bangladesh many engineers are quitting their dream jobs and
build their own technology company.

The life expectancy people of Bangladesh is also increasing this


might be another reason for the increasing numbers of senior
entrepreneurs.

4) Young Entrepreneurs: Bangladesh is a country with a rich history


of entrepreneurship and innovation. Over the years, the country has
produced a number successful entrepreneurs who made significant
impacts in their respective fields .

There are many successful entrepreneurs in Bangladesh who are


making waves in the business world. These individuals are all driven,
forward thinking and passionate about their work and they are
helping people to shape their future of the country’s business
landscape.

There are many examples of young entrepreneurs in Bangladesh


like, Ayman Sadiq ( 10 minute school ) , Afef Zaman ( Shop UP ) ,
Wseem Ali ( Chaaldal ) , Nazmul Sheik ( Shajgoj ) etc.

In conclusion , we can say that the number of entrepreneurs in


Bangladesh is rising whether its women , minority , senior , or young
groups . The contribution of these participants and in economic
development is undeniable .
