Song Contest Guess The Year Game

Guess which year each song was performed.

Set Up

Print off and cut out the song cards, then fold and place in a bowl.
Print off the printable answer signs and attach to lollipop sticks so you can hold them up.
Select a Question Master, or take it in turns to be the Question Master.

Gameplay

The Question Master selects a song from the bowl and reads out the song title, artist and
country, but keeps the year a secret.
The youngest player goes first, guessing the year of the song.
The Question Master uses the answer signs to tell them they are ‘Bang on!’ with the correct
year, ‘One year out!’, ‘In the right decade!’ or ‘Miles off!’
The Question Master picks another song out of the bowl and, moving clockwise round the
room or going up by age, the next player gets the chance to guess the year.

Scoring
Bang on = 2 points
One year out = 1 point
In the right decade or Miles off= everyone else gets a chance to answer
(1 point for bang on, no points for getting close)

Winning
Play continues until all the songs have been picked out. The winner is the person with the
most points. In the event of a tie, ask the tie-breaker question. The tied players write down
what they think the year is. Closest wins.

Tie Breaker

In what year did the UK last win the song contest?

1997

If there is still a tie, both players win.
