1+1 or The Untouchables is a French comedy-drama film written and directed
by Olivier Nakache and Eric Toledano. It stars Francois Cluzet as Philippe, and
Omar Sy as Driss. It is based on real events. The drama "1+1" has received a
large number of nominations and awards. The film was nominated for France's
most prestigious Cesar Award in eight categories. However, the prize went only
to Omar Sy as the best actor. The film also got into the list of nominees for the
Golden Globe and the British Academy BAFTA Award as "The Best Foreign
Language Film".
The Untouchables is set in 2011s in France, Paris and its suburbs, where most
immigrants live. The last episodes were filmed in the resort town of Cabeng,
located in Lower Normandy on the shores of the English Channel.
The soulful film "1 + 1" is about a strong friendship formed between two men
from different social classes. Philippe is a wealthy French aristocrat who is
confined to a wheelchair due to an accident. His craving for life is fading every
day, as the world has lost its former colors on account of paralysis. Doctors
advise Philippe to hire an employee who will help him physically and mentally
overcome the severe consequences of the injury. A fastidious man chooses Driss
from an extensive list of candidates - a young guy with a criminal record who
lacks skills in this field. So begins an amazing story that can melt the hearts of
even the most heartless. In the end, Driss manages to give a new, colorful life to
an aristocrat, and together they struggle with difficulties.
The last time I saw this film was two years ago. I like all the scenes in this
film. I strongly recommend everyone to watch this film. This is that rare movie
when you cry at the end, not because everything ended badly and you feel sorry
for someone there, but because everything ends well and these are just tears of
joy from the fact that there are still real sincere feelings in the world that have
arisen between two strangers. It gives hope and inspires people like Philippe.
Every plot and perfect soundtrack makes you watch again and again.
