at one end. The dimensions of the model are : common radius 3 cm, height of cone = 4cm
and total height = 14 cm., find
(a) The total surface area of the rocket
(b) The total volume of the rocket.

(iii) Prove that 2sec2A – sec4A – 2cosec2A + cosec4A = cot4A – tan4A [4]

(i) Using the properties of proportion, solve for x [4]

(ii) (a) The mid-point of AB is P(– 2, 4). The co-ordinates of the points A and B are (a, 0) [4]
and (0, b) respectively. Find the values of a and b.
(b) Two vertices of a triangle are (3, – 5) and (– 7, 4). If its centroid is (2, – 1), find the
third vertex.

(iii) Use graph paper for this question.(take 10 small divisions = 1 unit on both axes). P and [5]
Q have co-ordinates (0, 5) and (– 2, 3).
(a) P is invariant, when reflected in an axis, name the axis
(b) Find the image of Q on reflection in the axis found in part (a)
(c) (0, k) on reflection in the origin is invariant. Find the value of k.
(d) Write down the co-ordinates of the image of Q, obtained by reflecting it in the origin
followed by reflection in x-axis.

Question 4

(i) Manufacturer Pujan sells a water cooler to a dealer Sanket for Rs 8000. The dealer [3]
Sanket sells it to a consumer at a profit of Rs 1200. If the sales are intra state and the
rate of GST is 12%, find
(a) the amount of tax (under GST) paid by dealer Sanket to the Central government.
(b) The amount of GST received by the State Government
(c) The amount that the consumer pays for the water cooler.

(ii) Solve the following quadratic equation 13x2 + 20x – 92 = 0 . Give your answer correct to [3]
two decimal places.

(iii) Draw a histogram and hence estimate the mode for the following frequency distribution [4]

(iii) In the given figure, ABCDE is a pentagon inscribed in a circle such that AC is a diameter [4]
and side BC is parallel to AE. If ∠BAC = 400, then find the following
(a) ∠ACB (b) ∠EDC (c ) ∠BEC. Also, prove that BE is a diameter of the circle.

(i) A survey was conducted on 1500 families having 2 children each. The results obtained [3]
are given below :

If one family is selected at random, find the probability that it will have
(a) No girl child
(b) Atleast one girl child
(c) No boy child

(ii) A joker’s cap is in the form of a right circular cone of base radius 7 cm and height 24 cm. [3]
Find the area of the sheet required to make 10 such caps.

(iii) In the given figure, the medians QS and RT of a ∆PQR meet at G. Prove that [4]
(a) ∆TGS ∿ ∆RGQ (b) QG = 2GS

Question 8

(i) A shopkeeper purchase a certain number of books for Rs 960. If the cost per book was [4]
Rs 8 less, the number of books that could be purchased for Rs 960 would be 4 more. Write
an equation, taking the original cost of each book to be Rs x and solve it to find the original
cost of the book.

(ii) Marks obtained by 200 students in an examination are given below [6]

Draw an ogive for the given distribution taking 2 cm = 10 marks on one axis and 2 cm = 20
students on the other axis. Using the graph, determine
(a) The median marks
(b) The number of students who failed, if minimum marks required to pass is 40
(c) If scoring 85 and more marks is considered as grade one, find the number of students who
secured grade one in the examination.

Question 9

(i) Find two numbers such that the mean proportional between them is 18 and third [3]
proportional to them is 144.

(ii) Draw a circle of radius 2.5 cm and take a point P outside it. Draw two tangents to [3]
the circle from the point P.

(iii) A man standing on the bank of a river, observes that the angle of elevation of a tree [4]
on the opposite bank is 600. When he moves 40 m away from the bank, he finds the
angle of elevation to be 300, calculate
(a) the width of the river (b) the height of the tree

Question 10

(i) If the sum of first n terms of an A.P. is given by Sn = 6n + 7n2, then find the nth term [3]
of the A.P. Also, find the 10th term of the A.P.

(ii) If the mean of the following distribution is 24, find the value of ‘a’ [3]

(iii) In the adjoining figure, PT touches the circle whose centre is O at R. Diameter SQ when
