Berserk. Bubbles will be berserk and attempt to kill
any creature it can see if it starts its turn with less
than half of its hit points (63). Bubbles will do an
additional 4 (1d8) piercing damage to anything it
hits in combat until it is no longer berserk. Bubbles is
no longer berserk if it starts its turn with maximum
hit points or if it has been berserk for 10 turns.
Bubbles was created in one of Captain Gumshun’s various
mutation experiments and kept in a large steel cage on
Gumshun’s ship. Bubbles is fed often and used to dispose
of slavers and other undesirables that Gumshun and his
“Spider-squasher” ship manage to capture alive.
Bubbles has jet black eyes that turn bright pink when it's
angry or exposed to violence of any kind. Gumshun has
used Bubbles in battle only one time and was forced to
retire or replace his entire crew after that incident.

Fail Safe. Bubbles wears an explosive collar, and if
Captain Gumshun’s Shiny Red Button is used within
30 feet of Bubbles, then it explodes and dies.
Everything within 10 feet of Bubbles takes 13
(2d12) acid damage.
Hard to Control. This variety of giant space hamster is
notoriously difficult to control. Any Wisdom (Animal
Handling) checks used to calm or keep Bubbles from
killing and eating a creature during battle are made at
a disadvantage.
Regeneration. Bubbles regains 10 hit points at the
start of its turn. If Bubbles takes acid damage this
trait does not function at the start of its next turn.
Bubbles dies only if it starts its turn with 0 hit points
and does not regenerate.
Actions
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +9 to hit, reach 5 ft., one
target. Hit: 19 (3d8 + 6) piercing damage.
Fire Breath (Recharge 5-6). Bubbles breathes fire in a
40-foot cone. Each creature in that area must make a
DC 13 Dexterity saving throw, taking 36 (8d8) fire
damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on
a successful one. Bubbles is a massive mutated giant
space hamster covered in green warts, red scales,
and miss-matched hamster hair patches.
Bubbles now has a large metal collar with a bell, a name
plate, and an alchemical device called Fail Safe. Gumshun
had it installed as a last resort to protect Gumshun and the
crew if they ever have to use Bubbles in battle again.
Gumshun has destroyed all of his lab notes and materials,
swearing to never allow another giant space hamster to be
mutated in such a way.
Bubbles’ necklace can only be detonated by a shiny red
button that Gumshun keeps on his person at all times and
only if the button is within 30 feet of Bubbles when
pressed.
