a) The total number of P6 students is _________.

b) What percentage of the students chose Classical period? _________.
c) 25% of students voted for __________________ period.

Section B: Long Questions (37 marks)

1. Solve 37 – 6a = 19 . (Show your steps.)
37 – 6a = 19 37 – 6a + 6a =
37 – 19 = 19 + 6a – 19
18 6a
6 = 6
a=3

2. Below is a company’s logo. ABCDE is a pentagon and its perimeter is 22 cm. CD is 2 cm

long, B and E are the centres of the 2 identical circles respectively. Both∠ABC and

∠AED are right angles.

a) Find the length of AB.

The length of AB

= (22 cm – 2 cm) ÷ 4

= 5 cm

b) Find the perimeter of the logo. (Takeπ= 3.14)

The perimeter of the logo

3
= 2 cm + 5 cm × 2 × π × 4 × 2
= 2 cm + 15 cm × 3.14 = 49.1 cm

3. ABCD and DEFG are two squares. The perimeter of square ABCD is 36 cm and the area
of triangle CDF is 54 cm2. What is the length of BE? (Solve by equation)
Let the length of BE be y cm.
(36÷4 + y) × (36÷4)
2 = 54
(9 + y)×9
2 = 54
(9 + y)×9 2 2
2 ×9 = 54 ×9
9 + y – 9 = 12 – 9
y = 3
4. Find the total area of the lateral faces of the solid.
The total lateral surface area
= (8m+ 3m +3m) ×2 ×10 m
= 280m2

5a) According to the figure on the right, the water level is only 3 of the height of the tank.
What is the volume of water in the tank?
The volume of water
2
= (10 cm × 4 cm – 5 cm × 2 cm ) × 3 cm × 3
= 30 cm2 × 2 cm
= 60 cm3
Figure a

5b) The tank is now placed in the upright position.

i. What is the water level now?
The water level now
= 60 cm3÷ 3 cm ÷ 4cm
= 5 cm

ii. Draw the new water level on the figure b. (2 marks)

Section C: Challenging Question (14 marks) (2 marks each)
1a) Place 4 squares together on the dotted paper to create a shape with the most number of
lines of symmetry.

b) Use four isosceles right-angled triangles to form three different polygons which have
exactly 1 line of symmetry on the dotted paper.

Above is an example of the isosceles right-angled triangles.
