millets (Ragi or Maduwa and jowar) is cultivating in the Southern Jharkhand mainly
Khunti, Gumla, Simdega, Lohardaga, East and West Singhbhum
Jharkhand receives rainfall in the range of 1,200�1,600 mm per year
Moderate temperature during summer, rainfall of 1020.8 mm
b. Sandy soil :
This type of soil is found in east Hazaribagh and
Dhanbad. These two areas compose the trough basin of Damodar, which is famous for
sandy soil. Such soil is formed by the gradual decomposition of sandy loan and
sandy soil.
Maximum millet cultivation happens in the kharif period, i.e. during the monsoon
season. In areas that receive more than 800mm of rains, many of the millets can be
cultivated in the second season, i.e. as a rabi crop (during the post monsoon,
early winter months).
IN BOTH TELANGANA AND JHARKHAND MILLETS ARE GROWN IN THE ABOVE SEASON.
