Jordan Food Systems Training

Objective of the learning trajectory

Strengthen the knowledge, skills and practical competencies of participants to work with and apply
food system concepts and tools.

By the end of the learning trajectory the participants are expected to have gained:

1. Basic understanding of FS approach and key concepts;


2. Insights into FS assessment tools and how to use them;
3. Insights and understanding of key elements for (designing) FS transformation processes;
4. Experience on how to apply FS approach in practice through case based deep dives and
groupwork to identify future research and innovation priorities.

Overview of the learning trajectory and expected commitment from participants

The learning trajectory comprises an onboarding module, and 4 content modules of which one case-
based module where participants apply a FS approach whilst looking into questions and cases that
are relevant to the Jordanian context. Participants will work in groups to reflect about priorities for
research and innovation within Jordan’s horticulture sector and the respective food system.

Application of concepts and theory in practice – cased based groupwork

The learning trajectory covers a period of six weeks. Participants are expected to invest, on average,
four (4) hours per week on:

- Facilitated online sessions – attendance of > 85% is required


- Self-paced (online) learning activities
- Group work activities
- Participation in live face-to-face sessions

Each learning module is composed of self-paced learning activities (accessible through the interactive
learning management platform Curatr) and a live face-to-face session in Jordan or a facilitated online
session.

The self-paced learning activities involve going through reading material, instructional videos,
individual assignments, etc.

The online learning management platform allows course participants to interact, exchange ideas and
reflect on each other's inputs.

Module 1 and Module 4 also include live sessions in Jordan which require time invest of 2 full days
(09:30 – 15:00, including breaks and lunch) for each live session.
