Felt
Felt can basically be divided into two types: wool felt or washable felt. Wool felt is
recommended for these ornaments. These quality materials help dolls look their very best.

Cut
Cut out the paper pattern roughly and attach it onto felt. Roughly cut out the felt around
the pattern, which will be easier to maneuver and cut to final shape without removing

1. Using the templates, cut the doll pieces from felt.
2. Using the picture as a guide, arrange the face felt piece on the head front. Tack the pieces
down with a pin or a dot of fabric glue to keep them in place while you sew. Using the
matching sewing thread and needle, appliqué stitch around the edges. Keep the stitches
small so you will barely see them when you are finished.
3. Carefully, make two tiny holes with the tip of a very sharp pair of embroidery scissors
and insert safety eyes and connectors at back.
4. Embroider a curved mouth with black floss and a few back stitches. Embroider the nose
using a French knot. Add the eyebrows and tiny eyelashes at the outer corners of the eyes.
5. Glue the inner ear pieces onto the outer ears using a dot of craft glue
6. Fold the ears using the picture as a guide and sew the bottom.
7. Overcast stitch the darts on front and back head pieces with two strands of matching
floss, making sure to sew them up on the wrong side of the felt.
8. Position the ears in place, as shown.
9. Align the two head shapes together, so the ears are sandwiched in the middle, and thread
an embroidery needle with two strands of gray embroidery floss. Stitch the head shapes
together using overcast stitch, sewing through all layers of felt in ears areas, leaving a gap
open. Fill it firmly with toy stuffing. When you think you’ve put enough stuff in the head,
add a bit more and stitch it closed.
10. Carefully, position the tummy shape on the body front, lining up the edges carefully.
Thread an embroidery needle with two strands of matching floss and appliqué stitch the
tummy onto the body. Align the two body pieces together and thread an embroidery needle
with two strands of gray embroidery floss. Stitch the pieces together around the edges of
the body using overcast stitch, leaving the top open. Then, stuff firmly with toy stuffing.
When you think you’ve put enough stuff in the body, add a bit more and stitch it closed.
11. Embroider the wing´s lines using four long straight stitches and two strands of pale
gray embroidery floss.
12. Position the head so that it overlaps the body. Using an long embroidery needle and
two strands of floss, attach them together using a ladder stitch through the head and the
neck and going round and round till the head is secure. If the head seems wobbly, go back
around one more time with the ladder stitch.
13. Glue the wings to the body back, using the picture as a guide, and secure the wings to
the shoulders using a couple of straight stitches.
14. To paint the cheeks, rub a pink artist pastel onto a piece of paper and then apply the
resulting powder to the face with a soft blush. Place a ribbon around the neck (use the
picture to get the placement) and overlap the edges to make sure it fits snugly for a bow.
Tie a bow.
