Introduction – Development of Circuit 1Hr

1. This test project is a circuit that simulates the operation of Automatic Street Light which Turn ON when the sun sets
and the sensor senses dark.
2. In this phase of the test project, there are two design challenges. Competitor will design, modify and simulate the
following circuits using the provided datasheets
3. 12v to 5v power supply
4. Sensor Circuit

Instructions
Competitor can use LTSpice to create schematics. Create a schematic according to the WSSA. Use only Components
from ISC_District_Level_Electronics Library.

The LTSpice project file should be in the path of the competition results file. All assignments are independent and do
not depend on previous tasks that have been completed.

The simulation results will be screen-captured. The circuit must be shown on the capture, and the result must clearly
show the proper circuit behaviour.

Players must paste the simulation results into the "NAME_ISC_District_Level_Simulation_AnswerSheet.docx". The
simulation answer sheet has an area for each task. All simulation results must be stored in the same .docx file.

Figure 1 – Simultaneously capture schematics and simulation results to create an answer sheet

Since the judges use it for the design of the competitor, the correct simulation parameters must be stored in the LTSpice
schematic file. (The judges don't enter simulation parameters.)

Competitor must create the above-mentioned files during their working hours. At the end of the competition time, the
judges will collect work files for scoring. All files must be saved to the competitor result file path. No additional time is
provided to generate the file.

TASK 1 – 5V Power Supply

Use the parts provide in the LTSpice library to design a circuit that generates a 5v regulated power supply (margin of
error: ±5%) from 12v.

Perform transient simulations for 500us. A screen capture showing the associated schematic with a simulation result
that clearly shows that the Input is 12V and output is 5V.

TASK 2 – Sensor Circuit

Design a circuit that is gives output voltage as 5v when there is dark and 0V when there is light falling on the sensor
respectively. Competitor can only use one voltage source of 5v for simulating this circuit. Competitor need to create a
voltage reference of 2.5V from resistor network.

To Simulate light and dark use following resistance value for the LDR sensor.
1. Dark -> 100K Ohm
2. Light -> 1K Ohm

Perform transient simulations for 500us. A screen capture showing the associated schematic with a simulation result
that clearly shows the output for the following conditions.

1. When there is dark (value of resistor 100K ohm)

2. When there is light (value of resistor 1K ohm)

Introduction – Development of PCB - 1Hr
1. The competitor will be given the correct solution for this stage (ISC2024_District_Level_Starting_Point.sch to
start the PCB Design), Use “ISC2024_District_Level_Starting_Point.sch” to start the PCB Design
2. Competitor need to design Schematic and the PCB according to the standards Refer Best practices for PCB
Design file.

Instructions
Competitor can use Eagle to create PCB. Design a PCB according to the WSSA. Follow the following design rules and
size of the PCB.

Size of the PCB

PCB Size should be 60mm x 80mm. Place DC Jack at the left edge of the PCB.

DESIGN RULES
Follow Best Practices for PCB design as a general rule.

• Minimum Clearance

- Pad-Pad: 12mil (0.3048mm)

- Pad-Trace: 12mil (0.3048mm)
- Trace-Trace: 12mil (0.3048mm)
- Edge-Pad/Trace: 24mil (0.6096mm)

• Minimum Widths

- Power lines: 24mil (0.6096mm)

- Logic power lines: 16mil (0.4064mm)
- Signal lines: 12mil (0.3048mm)

• Minimum Via/Pad diameter and drill

- Diameter: 50mil (1.27mm)

- Drill: 30mil (0.762mm)

• Ground plane must be solid and shouldn’t have necks with less than 0.254mm.

- The circuit needs just one ground plane.

• The maximum number of jumpers is 5.

• In the circuit, it’s not necessary to use the rule 13 for any net.

- Refer to Best Practices for PCB Design.
