GENERAL PRINCIPLES

➢ Be clear and unambiguous.


➢ Include applied technologies that impact food safety.
➢ Not product certification, do not list all individual products,
processes, or services.
➢ Include the type of packaging when it has a vital function in
food safety or impacts food safety.
➢ Written in English – other languages may be added in addition.
➢ Not include promotional statements, brand names, or claims.
➢ Not mention sub-contracted or outsourced processes.
GENERAL PRINCIPLES

➢ Not contain phrases like etcetera or etc.


➢ Not reference non-food or non-feed related products,
processes, or services.
➢ Not contain exclusions for activities, processes, products, or
services when they can influence food safety.
➢ Not contain design and development as a separate activity.
➢ Adhere to the requirements to include storage and distribution
in the scope.
➢ Do not refer to sales in a manufacturer’s scope statement.

Indicate if products are intended for specific vulnerable groups.


Reference the type of pet food and target animal group for pet food
production.
If by-products are included in the scope, indicate its intended use in the
feed industry.

Specify the type of activities undertaken, e.g., wholesale or retail.
