SAP Note 36520 - Availability check for delivery

Note Language: English Version: 10 Validity: Valid Since 07.01.2005

Summary

Symptom
When you create a delivery, nothing is confirmed or apparently not enough
is confirmed.

Other terms
Availability check, OVZ9, requirements, VL01, VL02, VL04, availability,
stock transfer

Reason and Prerequisites

Check the settings in the availability check of the deliveries
(Transaction: OVZ9). If you execute the check with sales requirements, not
everything can be confirmed, for example, in the following
stock/requirements situation because of a correct ATP check.

Stock 100
Sales order 1 80
sales order 2 20
sales order 3 30

In this situation all three sales orders are confirmed, but cannot be
covered by the stock, meaning that a material shortage situation exists
that could have resulted from moving the time of a receipt element, for
example.

Example: Creation of a delivery for sales order 1

ATP invoice: Stock 100

- sales order 20
- sales order 30
-------------------
Unrestricted use 50

When creating the delivery, only 50 pieces can be confirmed under

consideration of sales requirements. Other combinations are of course also
possible.

This case can occur similarly during an availability check in a stock

transport delivery if the check in the scope of check of the delivery
(OVZ9) occurs with release order requirements (contract release orders from
purchase orders).

Solution
Check, whether the sales requirements need to be taken into account for
your business process when creating a delivery (in other words, check
whether the sales requirements are contained in Transaction OVZ9 for
checking rule B (Delivery)).
There are then two possibilities:
1) The sales requirements do not have to be contained in the scope of check
for the delivery:
In this case, ensure that the sales requirements are not contained in
Transaction OVZ9 (Scope of check) for checking rule B.
You can then confirm the deliveries again if there is an adequate stock.

(This is the more common case.)

2) The sales requirements must be contained in the scope of check for the
delivery:
You have the following options to confirm the delivery:
You can correct the material shortage situation for the delivery by
manually reducing the confirmations for the sales order items (forexample
by means of Transactions CO06 for backorder processing or VA02 for sales
order changes).
An improvement through the rescheduling can occur only if the scope of
check is identical for the checking rules A and B concerning the stocks and
inward movements, since the rescheduling (Transaction V_V2) uses checking
rule A and the delivery uses checking rule B. (This may not be the case in
many cases.) In addition, the rescheduling does not adjust the deliveries.
