WELCOME! Dear Participant,

UMO.Design congratulates you for opting to be a part


in this initiative. We highly appreciate your interest in
helping our society by solving an urgent problem that
matters the most in these uncertain time. We hope you
bring all your energy and passion to “Re-imagining life
in the Lockdown” and win this contest.

This document is designed to give you clear


instructions through the process and help you
succeed. For those who have opted for a mentor
guidance, you will have an expert at your disposal in
completing this journey successfully.

Mentors will be assigned for opted teams.

24th May | Identify the problem and share a link to your deck

Submit your Proposed Solution


31st May | Follow the evaluation criteria and submit the finished deck and a video

14th Jun | 10 shortlisted entries will be announced per category

Present to Jury
18th-20th Jun | Pitch your project online in 10 mins to an eminent jury

10th-17th May 2020 Whether you are from academia, from the industry, or a
citizen, you should participate in teams.
You all should have been
done with this step by now ● The minimum team size is 3.
● We encourage diversity in your teams. Diversity in
expertise, industry domain, gender, etc.,
● Brownie points for including a common man in
your teams.
Instructions All registered teams will be provided with instructions and guidelines to
follow including a Google Slide presentation template.

17th May 2020 ● You will be provided with a Google Slide deck presentation
template. This is your workbook with clear guidance and steps
to follow.

● You need a Google account. If you don’t have one, you are
strongly recommended to create one.
● Then you “Make a copy” of the template to make your own
version and complete the details as instructed in the template.
● Otherwise you can download a Microsoft Powerpoint version of
the deck to work with.
Identify the Submission Stage 1
Problem You have to complete up to slide # 6 in your version of the Google Slide
deck and share it with team@umo.design
24th May 2020
● Describe the scenario.
● Describe the problem you’ve identified.
● Explain why it is an urgent problem for the “Lockdown” theme.
● Who is the target user?
● When solved how it will positively impact the target user?
● You will be provided with feedback from our team incase the
problem identified needs a bit more rethinking.

Submission Instructions
● Share a link to your Google Slides document or your Microsoft Powerpoint
with all above mentioned details complete with team@umo.design
● For sharing your Google slides properly, click on the Share (yellow button

Then copy the link and email it to team@umo.design
Submit your Submission Stage 2 | FINAL
Solution Your proposed solution to the problem could be a digital/software, a
service, or a physical product. Update the solution section and the
31st May 2020 subsequent slides in your Google Slide deck:

● Explorations - Ideas or alternatives considered


● How does your final solution address the problem identified? (Use
sketches, photos, etc.,).
● Process followed and how it impacts the target user(s)?
● Execution and Viability - How can your solution be implemented
and how will sustain and become successful.

Submission Instructions
● Review your deck for completion
● Create a video (not exceeding 3 mins) for jury with all instructions followed
from the video section in the instructions deck
● Complete a final submission form and embed a video link and the
presentation link here
Get Shortlisted entries will be announced in each category.
These teams will have a chance to present to the final
Shortlisted award jury online.
14th Jun 2020
● You will receive feedback to polish your entries.
● Please work with a mentor to prepare for the final
jury, for those with mentors assigned..
Present to Pitch your project virtually to a jury.

Jury ● You will have 10 mins to present you project


18th - 20th Jun 2020 ● You are recommended to the use either your
completed slide deck and/or the video to make
for your presentation
● Work with your mentor to polish your presentation
skills.
Win Present to the jury online
Awards Winners will be presented with the Design X Social
Innovation Awards in the following categories:
21st Jun 2020
● Best in the Academia
● Best in the Enterprise
● Best in the Open Category
● Design X Social Special Jury Award
● Design X Social People Choice Award
Shortlisted entries will have an opportunity to market to get
maximum voting. The winner will be honored with People
Choice Award. Winner will also have a chance to present to
the Jury and win more awards.
