On November 7

2023 A man shot dead two protesters on Tuesday who were participating in blocking

a road in a town located 80 km west of Panama City, in the third week of protests

against a Canadian mining company.

Commissioner Elmer Caballero explained that Darlington was in the company of two

people when he traveled to his residence in the interior.

Darlington got out of a car and after exchanging words with the protesters he took a

gun out of his pocket.

The dead protesters were identified as Iván Rodríguez, 62, and Abdiel Díaz (age not

specified). Díaz died at the scene and Rodríguez in a hospital. According to union

leaders, both were teachers.

The Public Ministry confirmed that Kenneth Darlington, accused of murder in the

demonstrations against the Mining Contract, is detained in prison. The Public
