Dear Brandon,

How are you? I am in the pink of health. It has been ages since the last time I sent you a
letter. In your previous letter, you asked me about a major cultural celebration we celebrated.
I’ll share with you about Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
My family and I celebrated Hari Raya Aidilfitri last May this this year. We celebrated
it after a month of fasting which is Ramadhan. We were as busy as bees before Hari Raya to
prepare for it. We cooperated to clean and decorate our house. My sister volunteered to decorate our
house with new curtain. A night before Hari Raya Aidilfitri, we lighted our house yard with oil
lamps, we played firecrackers and fireworks, and cooked ‘rendang’ and ‘ketupat’. These are
special dishes for Hari Raya Aidilfitri. We woke up early in the morning and dressed
beautifully in Malay traditional ‘baju kurung’ and ‘baju Melayu’. We had our breakfast
together and then we went to mosque to perform Eid prayer. After that, we visited our
neighbours’ and relative’s houses. Children enjoyed this moment because they can collect
money given as gift to them.
I felt so contented and joyful. Celebrating special event makes us much closer with our
family members and relatives. It shows unity and love among them. This gives everyone a
blissful feeling to be with their dear ones. Malaysia is well-known as a multicultural country.
Hence, all the Malaysians celebrate festivals together in a unique and colourful environment.
I will pen off now. Hope to hear from you soon. Take care and bye.

Yours sincerely,
Aiman
