Search on the internet and identify the examples of office suites that is commonly used
in the businesses nowadays and determine what are the applications that is included in its
package.
1. Name of office suite or package: Microsoft Office 365

Short background of the company/developer: Microsoft 365, formerly Office 365, is a line of
subscription services offered by Microsoft which adds to and includes the Microsoft Office product line.
In 2011, Office 365, a cloud version of Office business software suite was released which included
applications such as Word and Excel. The latest Office apps, like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. ·
The ability to install on PCs, Macs, tablets, and phones.

Description: Microsoft Office 365 is a suite of cloud-based productivity and collaboration applications
that integrates all Microsoft's existing online applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook,
Publisher, Sway, and Access) into a cloud service, adding Skype for Business and Microsoft Teams as the
main communication.

Details about each application included in the package and its purpose:

Microsoft Outlook includes an email client, calendar, address/contact book and task manager. The
personal information manager is mainly used for emailing and can be used in integration with a
Microsoft SharePoint server to share documents, calendars and information within an organization.

Microsoft OneNote is an application to gather handwritten or computer typed notes, drawings and
audio commentaries. The note taking program makes it possible to easily share the notes with other
OneNotes users. It is also perfect for note taking on-the-go.

Microsoft Publisher is a similar app to Microsoft Word. Unlike Word, it focuses more on the page layout
and design rather than the text composition. The desktop publishing application is useful for small
businesses with the need to create marketing materials.

Microsoft Access in its simplest form it is a database management system. The application can store
data in its own format or can import and link directly to data stored in other applications. It supports a
variety of standard field types and forms to display and enter data.

Microsoft Sway is a presentation program. Content can be pulled locally or from an Internet source
directly. Another integration service of Sway presentations include YouTube or Facebook content.

Microsoft SharePoint is a platform for in which teams can collaborate, access, manage, and share data
from any location. The web-based collaborative platform is a highly efficient content management
system.
2. Name of office suite or package: Google Workspace.

Short background of the company/developer: Google Workspace is a collection of cloud


computing, productivity and collaboration tools, software and products developed and marketed by
Google. A history of Google Workspace from its humble beginnings as Google Apps in 2006 to today's
widely adopted business productivity suite. Google Workspace includes all of the productivity apps you
know and love—Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Meet, and many more.

Gmail: Gmail (pronounced Gee-mail) is a free Web-based e-mail service that gives users a
gigabyte of message storage and allows them to search for specific messages. Gmail also
automatically organizes messages that are related to one another into a conversational thread.
Calendar: A calendar's primary practical use is to identify days: to be informed about or agree
on a future event, and to record a past event. Days can have agricultural, civil, religious, or
social significance.
Docs: You can use Google Docs to create and edit text documents directly in your web browser
—no special software is required. Even better, multiple people can work concurrently, you can
see people's changes as they happen, and every change is automatically saved.
Sheets: The Google Sheets online spreadsheet application allows users to organize and
analyze data by creating, editing, and formatting spreadsheets online.
Slides: As a supplement and complement to a speaker's presentation. Slides supplement the
information presented by the speaker. Slides show graphic elements that help with
communication. Slides highlight key points to emphasize content.
Forms: You can use Google Forms to create and analyze surveys directly in your mobile or
web browser—no special software is required. You get results as soon as they come in. You
can also use charts and graphs to quickly summarize survey results.
3. Name of office suite or package: LibreOffice

Short background of the company/developer: LibreOffice is a free and open-source office


productivity software suite, a project of The Document Foundation (TDF).
LibreOffice is community-driven and developed software, and is a project of the not-for-profit
organization, The Document Foundation.
LibreOffice includes several applications that make it the most versatile Free and Open Source
office suite on the market: Writer (word processing), Calc (spreadsheets), Impress
(presentations), Draw (vector graphics and flowcharts), Base (databases), and Math (formula
editing).
Description: What is LibreOffice? LibreOffice is a freely available, fully-featured office
productivity suite. Its native file format is Open Document Format (ODF), an open standard
format that is being adopted by governments world wide as a required file format for publishing
and accepting documents.

Writter (world processing): A word processor is a computer program that is used to write and
revise documents, compose the layout of the text, and preview the printed copy on a computer
monitor.
Calc (spreadsheet): A spreadsheet is a software program you use to easily perform
mathematical calculations on statistical data and totaling long columns of numbers or
determining percentages and averages.
Impress (presentation): Impress has a comprehensive range of easy-to-use drawing and
diagramming tools to add style and sophistication to your presentation. What's more, you can
bring your presentation to life with slide show animations and effects. The Fontworks tool lets
you create attractive 2D and 3D images from text.

Draw (vector graphics and flowcharts): Flowcharts are used in analyzing, designing,
documenting or managing a process or program. A flowchart is a diagrammatic representation
of an algorithm, a step-by-step approach to solving a task. Flowcharts can also be defined as a
diagram that represents a workflow or process.
Base (databases): Databases are designed to make it easy to save, retrieve, edit, and delete
data while carrying out various data-processing tasks.
Math (formula editing): LibreOffice Math is a formula editor you can use to create or edit
formulas (equations) in a symbolic form. You can use Math within LibreOffice documents or as
standalone application. Example formulas are shown below.
