HeroQuest Rules FAQ - Answered!

Q: What armor can the Druid Hero use?

A: The Druid cannot use the chainmail, plate mail, or Borin's Armor. Borin's Armor is considered comparable to chainmail (Against
the Ogre Horde).
The Druid cannot use the helmet. The helmet is specifically referred to as metal on the Dread Spell Rust.
The Druid can use the shield: As the shield is not mentioned on the Rust spell. Additionally, it is referenced specifically in addition to
metallic armor on the Bard Hero card "wearing non-metallic armor and carrying no shield". (Bard Hero Card). The Druid can also
use the bracers (see below).

Q: Can the Wizard use the Bracers?

A: Probably. Previously Bracers were not present in the US version of the game. They have the key term "armor", which is expressly
forbidden on the Wizard's Character card, "You cannot wear armor or use large weapons." Despite this, in the UK version, where the
bracers did appear, they were an exception, bearing the text, "may only be used by the Wizard".
It is likely this clarification text was left off the card to allow it to be used by other classes such as the Druid and Bard as well.
Further evidence to this implied intent is the additional descriptor of "leather" on the new bracers, which was not present in their old
form.

Q: I have the Male and Female versions of a Hero, can I use both in a quest?
A: Both Mage of Mirrors and The Frozen Horror expansions contain a female version of the Elf and Barbarian. These expressly
state, "A group of heroes can only contain one Barbarian at a time" (Mage of Mirrors, The Frozen Horror).

Q: Can an unarmed Hero attack? How many combat dice do they use?
A: "A Hero with no weapons or armor rolls one die to attack and two dice to defend" (HeroQuest, Quest 6, Legacy of the Orc
Warlord).

Q: Can items be exchanged?

A: "A Hero can pass a potion, artifact, weapon, or any other item to another Hero only if the 2 Heroes are in adjacent squares and
neither is adjacent to a monster" (The Frozen Horror).

Q: Can items be sold to the armory?

A: "As the Heroes gain better equipment, they can sell some of their old items to the Armory. Only items that are listed for sale in the
Armory (on the cardboard platform in the Game System) can be sold back to the Armory. The Hero receives Gold Coins equal to half
of the Armory's price when selling items to the Armory. Thus, a Hero who sells a longsword (which costs 350 Gold Coins) back to the
Armory receives 175 Gold Coins. Items sold at the Armory for odd sums (the dagger at 25 Gold Coins, for example) can be sold back
for half price, rounded down (12 Gold Coins for the dagger)." (The Frozen Horror).

Q: I ran out of a certain equipment card, can the Heroes buy more?
A: "The items are always in stock even if a player decides to use a card for quick reference" (Game System Rulebook)

Q: I have a question not found in this guide, what do I do?

A: "When in doubt, use your experience and imagination to make the best choice."
