Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced members of staff within
the ZCDC group to fill in the below-mentioned posts that have arisen within the
organisation.
GEOLOGY DEPARTMENT
1. DIAMOND DRILLING ASSISTANT x 1 (GRADE – B2)
Reporting to the Diamond Core Driller, the job is based at the Mine in Chiadzwa and is
responsible for the following:

Summary of Duties:
• Assisting Diamond Core Driller in setting up and operating diamond core drill rig.
• Working with the Diamond Core Driller in ensuring that drill rig components and
rods are well maintained.
• Assisting in handling, measurement, and storage of retrieved ore.
• Assisting in mixing drilling muds.
• Complying with SHEQ operating standards and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:


• At least three (3) O’ Level passes.
• At least one (1) year relevant experience.
• Sound knowledge of SHEQ Management Systems.

2. RC DRILLING ASSISTANT x 1 (GRADE – B1)


Reporting to the RC Driller, the job is based at the Mine in Chiadzwa and is responsible
for the following:

Summary of Duties:
• Assisting the RC Driller in operating the reverse circulation drill rig.
• Identifying minor problems that may be associated with drill rigs.
• Undertaking daily checks before commencement of operations to avoid any
unnecessary damage to the drill rig.
• Drill site housekeeping and proper handling of tools and equipment.
• Complying with SHEQ operating standards and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:


• At least three (3) O’ Level passes.
• At least one (1) year relevant experience.
• Sound knowledge of SHEQ Management Systems.

3. DMS ASSISTANT x 1 (GRADE – B1)


Reporting to the DMS Operator, the job is based at the Mine in Chiadzwa and is
responsible for the following:

Summary of Duties:
• Assisting the DMS Operator to efficiently monitor and operate DMS plant.
• Measuring the DMS operating parameters to ensure that they are within the
operating ranges.
• Ensuring good housekeeping around the DMS plant.
• Complying with SHEQ operating standards and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:


• At least three (3) O’ Level Passes.
• At least one (1) year working experience.
• Sound knowledge of SHEQ Management systems.

4. SAMPLER x 1 (GRADE – B1)


Reporting to the Geological Technician, the job is based at the Mine in Chiadzwa and is
responsible for the following:

Summary of Duties:
• Ensuring bulk sampling and grade control to maximize profits and avoid wastage.
• Assisting in preparation and updating of mine plans.
• Advocating for the striping process to be done effectively to attain quality ore.
• Complying with SHEQ operating standards and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience:


• At least three (3) O’ Level passes.
• At least one (1) year working experience.
• Sampling experience is an added advantage.
• Sound knowledge of SHEQ Management systems.

5. SURVEY ASSISTANTS x 2 (GRADE – B1)


Reporting to the Surveyor, the job is based at the Mine in Chiadzwa and is responsible
for the following:

Summary of Duties:
• Measuring mined out areas and stockpiles in all operational portals.
• Setting out data using survey equipment for mining, exploration, and engineering
works.
• Preparing steel rods to use as survey pegs.
• Maintaining survey stations and carrying out beacon inspections.
• Assist the Surveyor in carrying out all field measurements using survey equipment.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:


• At least three (3) O’ Levels.
• At least one (1) year relevant experience.
• Sound knowledge of SHEQ Management Systems.

MINING DEPARTMENT
1. MINING CLERK x 1 (GRADE – B4)
Reporting to the Mining Superintendent – Production, the job is based at the Mine in
Chiadzwa and is responsible for the following:

Summary of Duties:
• Interpreting, classifying and consolidating data from the various sections in the
department.
• Inputting all data into the SAP system for ease of reference, information
management and retrieval.
• Maintaining and filing reports, records, forms, schedules and correspondence for
ease of and future reference.
• Complying with SHEQ operating standards and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:


• At least five (5) O’ Level passes.
• Certificate in Computers. ICDL an added advantage.

• At least one (1) year relevant experience.


• Proficiency in Microsoft Office packages and SAP an added advantage.

2. EXCAVATOR OPERATORS x 10 (GRADE – B4)


Reporting to the Load and Haul Supervisor, the job is based at the Mine in Chiadzwa and
is responsible for the following:

Summary of Duties:
• Ensuring safe and efficient operation of the excavator.
• Working to plan as instructed by the supervisor.
• Conducting daily maintenance of the machine including pre-checks and
housekeeping.
• Identifying, reporting and correcting hazards.
• Complying with SHEQ operating standards and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:


• Operator Certificate of competence.
• At least three (3) O’ Level passes.
• At least one (1) year relevant experience.
• Sound knowledge of SHEQ Management Systems.

3. DUMP TRUCK OPERATORS x 15 (GRADE – B3)


Reporting to the Load and Haul Supervisor, the job is based at the Mine in Chiadzwa and
is responsible for the following:

Summary of Duties:
• Operating the dump truck in an effective and efficient manner.
• Ensuring that the dump truck is maintained in a safe and sound manner by carrying
out all the necessary checks before and after use.
• Ensuring that the necessary set targets are met without damage, loss to property
or injury to people.
• Complying with SHEQ operating standards and procedures.

• Clean Class Two Driver’s Licence.
• Operator Certificate of competence.
• At least three (3) O’ Level passes.
• At least one (1) year relevant experience.

PROCESSING DEPARTMENT
1. PLANT OPERATOR x 1 (GRADE – C4)
Reporting to the Plant Shift Foreman, the job is based at the Mine in Chiadzwa and is
responsible for the following:

Summary of Duties:
• Coordinating and supervising the operation of crushing, screening, scrubbing and
DMS plants.
• Adhering to SOPs to achieve optimal production, quality, recovery and efficient
targets.
• Ensuring process variables are maintained within acceptable ranges during the
DMS plant operation.
• Managing and keeping adequate records of key production variables.
• Complying with SHEQ operating standard and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:


• At least five (5) O’ Level passes.
• NEC Plant Operator Certificate.
• National Diploma in Mineral Processing and Extractive Metallurgy an added
advantage.
• At least three (3) years’ plant experience.
• Sound knowledge of SHEQ Management Systems.

2. METALLURGICAL LABORATORY TECHNICIAN x 1 (GRADE – C4)


Reporting to the Plant Metallurgist, the job is based at the Mine in Chiadzwa and is
responsible for the following:

Summary of Duties:
• Preparing sound metallurgical test work sampling plans.
• Conducting sample preparation and test-works in line with approved sampling
plans.
• Preparing detailed technical reports for each metallurgical test work sampling
exercise.
• Maintaining records for all test work results.
• Conducting process efficiency tests for processing plant.
• Developing and updating relevant standard operating procedures for various
metallurgical test works
• Maintaining laboratory equipment in good state and reporting any incidents to the
supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:


• National Diploma in Mineral Processing and Extractive Metallurgy or equivalent.
• At least three (3) years’ experience in a mining environment.
• Sound knowledge of SHEQ Management Systems.

3. LABORATORY ASSISTANTS x 3 (GRADE – B4)


Reporting to the Metallurgical Laboratory Technician, the job is based at the Mine in
Chiadzwa and is responsible for the following:

Summary of Duties:
• Collecting various samples in the plants using relevant sampling methods.
• Conducting sample preparation and test-works in line with approved sampling
plans.
• Participating in process efficiency tests conducted for each process plant.
• Adhering to standard operating procedures during sample collection, preparation
and testing exercises.
• Maintaining laboratory equipment in good state and reporting any incidents to the
supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:


• National Certificate in Mineral processing or equivalent.
• At least (one) 1 year experience in a mining environment.

SALES AND MARKETING DEPARTMENT


1. SENIOR SORTER AND EVALUATOR x 1 (GRADE – D1)
Reporting to the Sorthouse Manager, the job is based at the Sorthouse in Harare and is
responsible for the following:

Summary of Duties:
• Supervising the processes that are taken to bring out the proper final sorting and
grading of diamonds.
• Analysing and checking on the quality, colour, grade and size of diamond parcels
for evaluation purposes.
• Leading and coordinating sorting and evaluation teams and attending the
adjudication of the tender bids.
• Analysing the world diamond market trends and applying them during the
evaluation process.
• Capturing data into the evaluation data base after the diamond evaluation exercise
for reporting purposes and future reference.
• Monitoring that diamond parcels are labelled correctly to improve efficiency.
• Conducting the evaluation of diamonds accurately in line with the international
market trends.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:


• Diploma in Diamonds Grading, Gemmology or equivalent. A relevant Degree is an
added advantage.
• Marketing qualification is an added advantage.
• Certificate in Rough Diamonds Sorting and Evaluation.
• At least five (5) years’ experience in the diamond industry of which three (3) years
as Sorter and Evaluator.
• Previous supervisory experience an added advantage.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office package and SAP.
• Sound knowledge of SHEQ Management Systems.

2. DIAMOND EVALUATORS x 2 (GRADE – C6)


Reporting to the Senior Sorter & Evaluator, the job is based at the Sorthouse in Harare
and is responsible for the following:

Summary of Duties:
• Conducting diamond quality checking before putting the product on Tender.
• Conducting evaluation and pricing of local and international diamond parcels as
per international pricing guidelines.
• Capturing data into diamond price data base and set reserve prices.
• Conducting market intelligence for achieving optimum price.
• Maintaining and updating the diamond price book.
• Preparing an evaluation report after every tender.
• Complying with the company SHEQ policies that promote Zero Harm objectives.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:


• Diploma in Diamonds Grading, Gemmology or equivalent.
• Certificate in Rough Diamonds Sorting and Evaluation.
• At least three (3) years’ experience in the diamond industry.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office package and SAP.
• Sound knowledge of SHEQ Management Systems.

3. LABORATORY/DEEP BOILING TECHNICIAN x 1 (GRADE – C5)


Reporting to the Sorthouse Manager, the job is based at the Sorthouse in Harare and is
responsible for the following:

Summary of Duties:
• Cleaning diamonds using environmentally friendly chemicals.
• Maintaining an inventory of the laboratory or the deep boiling facility vis-à-vis
chemicals, apparatus, etc.
• Conducting laboratory tests for both the Mine and Sorthouse.
• Ensure proper storage of the chemicals used in the laboratory.
• Monitoring and complying to legislation on the disposal of used chemicals.
• Researching and upgrading all cleaning and operating systems/methods.
• Complying with the company SHEQ policies that promote Zero Harm objectives.

• Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry or equivalent.
• At least two (2) years’ experience in the diamond industry.
• At least one (1) year experience working in a laboratory.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office package.
• Sound knowledge of SHEQ Management Systems.

4. SORTER x 1 (GRADE – C4)


Reporting to the Senior Sorter and Evaluator, the job is based at the Sorthouse in Harare
and is responsible for the following:

Summary of Duties:
• Classifying diamonds according to their categories before cleaning.
• Preparing diamonds for acid cleaning and deep boiling.
• Sorting diamonds as per Standard Operating Procedures.
• Compiling diamond document job sheets after task completion.
• Conducting diamond analysis (SFDs).
• Complying with the company SHEQ policies that promote Zero Harm objectives.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:


• Certificate in Rough Diamond Sorting and Evaluation.
• Diploma in Diamonds Grading or Gemmology an added advantage.
• At least five (5) O’ Level passes including Mathematics and English. Advanced
Levels an added advantage.
• At least two (2) years’ experience in the diamond industry.
• Sound knowledge of SHEQ Management Systems.
