Introduction
Thank you for purchase of the Marine Crystal Master Clock.
This instruction manual explains functions, operating instructions and notices with regard to
handling the apparatus. Please read this manual carefully and handle it with care. After
reading this manual thoroughly, please keep it in a safe location for your future review.

Product Summary
This apparatus is a high precision master clock for a master/local clock system. This system
consists of a master clock and local clocks that are controlled by the master clock. Used
particularly as a chronometer on ships, it is designed and manufactured with consideration
given to variables such as vibration, temperature, and handling conditions.ln addition, the
master clock conducts automatic time adjustment utilizing GPS.

Safety Instructions
For proper and safe use of the apparatus, please ensure that you follow the safety instructions
indicated below when operating or handling the apparatus. Please understand that no
responsibility will be accepted for damage that arises from handling the product without taking
these necessary precautions.

) ~ CAUTION Risk of severe bodily injury or death.

.00 not directly touch the unit in the apparatus. There is a risk of electric shock .
• 00 not allow people inexperienced in operating or configuring the apparatus to
handle it .
• Earthing
. To aVOid electric shock, please ground the earth terminal before turning on the power for the
apparatus .
. Anti-nOise measures for the clock are more effective With earthing Please note that there
may be adverse effects to the precIsion of the clocks when frame grounding together with
other apparatus is used, due to interference from the other apparatus.

-3-
~ CAUTION Risk of severe bodily injury or death.

Power supply
.Use an uninterruptlble power supply for the AC power input.
.Ensure that the power voltage of the apparatus matches that of the power supply.
• Use a power Input with a range between 85 VAC and 264 VAC (47-63Hz)
• If for any reason there is an increase m the output voltage or overloadmg occurs, output IS designed to be cut by
a power protection function, which does not come mto effect as long as the apparatus IS used normally To return
the clock to normal operation, SWitch <OFF> both the AC and DC SWitches on the master clock, remove the cause of
the overload (e g excessive connection of local clocks, etc), allow approximately one mmute to pass, and
then SWitch <ON> the AC and DC power agam

Installation location
.Operating temperature range is from -20·C to 60·C. The temperature range for guaranteed accuracy,
however, is from O·C to 40·C .
• 00 not put other devices on top of the apparatus. Damage may result.
.00 not place the apparatus in areas where there IS·
· High temperature and high humidity
• Lack of stablilty
• Dew caused by sharp changes m temperature

When trouble occurs

.Switch <OFF> both the AC and DC switches inside the master clock immediately when smoke or strange
odors emanate from the apparatus, or when other abnormal phenomena occur.

Resetting the circuit protector

.When the power input produces excess current, one of either the AC or DC circuit protector reset buttons
(or both) pop(s) out upwards, and the circuit protector cuts the power supply Please check the wiring,
remove possible causes of the excess current (short-circuited AC or DC lines, reversed polarity
connections, excessive connection of local clocks, etc.), allow at least 10 seconds to pass from the time
the circuit protector trips, and then reset It by pushing In the reset button.

Do not leave screws, other parts, or metal pieces inside the apparatus. Short-circuiting
inside the apparatus may result.

Do not carelessly detach connectors within the apparatus.

Do not carelessly pull at the connecting wires in the apparatus. Damage to the connectors,
or loss of operating and display functions may result.

Do not spill water on the apparatus. Short-circuiting may result.

Do not wipe the apparatus with benzine, thinners, or other solvents. The exterior of the
apparatus may deteriorate or the exterior coating may run.

Do not disassemble or alter the apparatus. Loss of operating and display functions may
result.

Connection
.With the wIring of the local clocks, use different colored wires for polarity Identification of the clock
Signals.
• Ensure bmdmg of Ime connections and branches IS camed out correctly wlthm the box

Insulation test - Caution

.Conducting Insulation tests while lines are connected with terminals of the apparatus (please refer to p.6)
may damage the apparatus.
