COMPRESSOR SKID FOUNDATION - CALCULATION
1.0 INTRODUCTION
This document covers the design calculation for Solar Gas Turbo Compressor in Train A & B in
Solar Turbo Compressor Package project located in North Rumaila field-Iraq. The Scope of this
design calculation is to highlight the design philosophy, machine loads and adequacy of proposed
foundation system along with the size and reinforcement requirement of the foundation for the
compressor.
The compressor is centrifugal type supported on block type foundation. Compressor loading data,
foundation pad location, anchor bolt location etc. is provided by vendor “Solar Turbines” in Drg
No: 2986-STI-EGT-ME-DRG-0001 (Rev-B).

3.0 MATERIALS
Material specifications shall be as follows:
a) Concrete:
Vendor)
1) Weight of foundation is kept more than 3 times the total weight of machine.
2) The combined center of gravity of the machine foundation system shall, as far as possible,
pass through the center of area of the block foundation.
3) The soil stress below foundations shall not exceed 50% of the net allowable soil bearing
capacity.
4) The stability checks for foundation shall be carried out based on the allowable stress design
load combinations.
5) The anchor bolt shall be designed based on the Strength design (LRFD) load combinations.
6) The Static weight of the equipment is considered as the Empty Weight (De) in design.
7) For Operating Weight (Do) the summation of static weight and dynamic weight is considered.
