YUNGIB NIGHTS
By: Tess Malabanan’11
True are the words of our senior brod, Gen. Emmanuel S Cayton, when he said “This place (Barracks) is a
hell where we keep coming back”. Evident to this statement is the series of fellowships that took place last year,
2013 in the Barracks Vicinity and Yungib.
There are different reasons that trigger a fellowship to happen. Reasons can be birthdays, class reunion,
class anniversary, Cadet Officers indoctrination, welcome party, despedida party, balik-bayan party, break-up par-
ty, wedding party, kapagod-sa-opisina party, tagal-ng-hindi-nakikipag-inuman-sa-mga-brods party, napadaan-lang-
kaya-inuman-na party, tapos-na-ang-Chapter-meeting-kaya-inuman-na-ulit party, pampapasarap-ng-kwentuhan-
habang-nakatambay party, tagal-ng-hindi-nakadalaw party, and so on. Reasons were never scarce, so as ways and
means. Years of training made us resourceful and creative. Such traits are also applicable in coming up with vari-
ous approaches to have a good time. Some of the ways that have been explored include chill-na-tambay-sa-may-
mangga, ihaw-ihaw-sa-may-mangga, dance party, disco nights, videoke nights, during our time nights, Bacardi
nights, inumang-tamang-pampatulog-lang, inumang-hanggang-sumikat-ang-araw, and (because technology allows
it now) through-Skype-shot-mo-na-brod.
Someone once said that “A picture says a thousand words”. This compilation of pictures can translate a
thousand of interpretations but one thing is for sure common, it is the spirit of brotherhood that radiates the most.
Hep. Hep. Cheers!
