STUDENTS IN CINHS S.Y. 2022-2023

INTRODUCTION:

Most people use Quillbot because it is a paraphrasing tool. On November 22, 2021, they
recently launched a new feature called the co-writing features." This allowed the user to research
and write directly on their website and have different sources about the topic. Instead of reading the
whole article, the user could also highlight the word and see the founder of it. They have a
completely free plan that anyone can start without paying any money. The monthly plan starts at
$19.95 per month, and to unlock all the features, the user needs to upgrade to the premium plan.

If the original source material is not cited, the work can be considered plagiarized. However, the use
of a paraphrasing tool means that the writing is not truly original or attributable to the author. This
becomes a gray area and a new frontier of plagiarism, for which the handbooks must be revised.
Furthermore, self-checking manuscripts for plagiarism using a plagiarism checker like Quillbot can
prove beneficial. Paraphrasing tools like QuillBOT or, just like many internet facilities, promise to
make things easier. The reality is that the outputs have a large number of errors and do not help
students learn. Being open with students about the problems that exist with online paraphrasing
tools may encourage them to learn how to learn and develop their own paraphrasing skills.The
Quillbot app offers features for English learners, offering two sentence rewriting modes, Standard
and Fluency, according to the needs of the user. The synonyms in the sentence are also categorized
by gradual levels to increase accuracy; it is a Paid Optimal Version, and the users can be changed. In
addition, the Quillbot website returns various paraphrase options for learners, as well as changes to
sentences depending on the vocabulary and grammar.

Background of the Study :

The results show that QuillBot paraphrasing tools use several ways to paraphrase the text:
paraphrasing by using equations or synonyms; paraphrasing by changing the form of the word;
paraphrasing by using active or passive sentences; and paraphrasing by changing the order of words
in sentences. QuillBot is one of the paraphrasing and summarizing tools that can be used by students
for rewriting any content based on a state-of-the-art AI system. This tool can be the students’
alternative, which provides a solution by helping paraphrase when students do not have the idea to
paraphrase English writing manually. Furthermore, the use of Quillbot was found to have three
benefits: enhancing students' positive attitudes toward writing, providing a variety of user-friendly
writing features, and aiding students' language development. This study implies that AI-powered
technology like Quillbot in writing, particularly academic writing, has a significant role in creating
high-quality writing for students.

Methodology:

Research Design

The quantitative correlational research design was used in this study to assess two variables and
evaluate the extent to which the variables are connected. It is a type of non-experimental research
that facilitates prediction and explanation of the relationship among variables (Seeram, 2019).
Specifically, in this method, it was determined that there was a significant relationship between the
level of online learning engagement and vocabulary development and the level of online learning
engagement and reading comprehension.

The researchers used simple sampling to ensure that every part of the population has an equal
chance to be part of the study. In this type of sampling, the members of the sample are selected
randomly and purely by chance. Hence, the quality of the sample is not affected as every member
has an equal chance of being selected in the sample (P Bhardwaj, 2019).

In this study, the researchers will use a simple sampling technique by choosing random students
from each section. Students will be selected randomly by using a roulette wheel. In this way, all of
the students will have an equal chance of being chosen to be part of the study.
